Overwatch has seasons too, but it is also tied to their ranking system. As far as I know, Fortnite doesn't do that (leaving first timers to compete against pros)

I like how the pre-season 5 event has different signs and landmarks in-game disappearing through portals everyday and the burger mascot that used to be on top of the fast food joint in Greasy Grove randomly appeared out of nowhere in a desert north of Los Angeles
