Okay, it seems like they let him go because he was a single dad or some shit. I'm watching the video right now, but I think we should already "know" what is going on with Best Buy from an older news story

When he got hired at Best Buy he agreed to work there as long as he got Saturdays off to take care of his son. As soon as they needed him to work Saturdays he could not oblige so he they fired him.

He also observed female works getting better treatment as single mothers as well.

Yeah, that's fucked up then. And I guess that's why he was talking about discrimination, I guess they let single moms off of work for that stuff? And it wasn't even his day to work

Did they really agree to give him ALL Saturday's off? that just seems really unlikely to me. Most retail jobs have the Weekend locked. You can request certain time off but it can't be your day off every week. Does Best Buy really let employees use Weekends as their mandatory day off?

He's arguing that they do it for the women, and he's saying that they did tell him that. None of us really can know

I dont understand how its discrimination because he's a single father who didn't get a promotion. Even then, how can he prove that it was discrimination? I ask because he says he will win the case for $400K.

*referring to him suing Best Buy for not promoting him as assistant manager and firing him because he was a single father

Can you actually file for discrimination when your manager favors "certain people"? Like for example, if there's a bunch of overtime at work and no one wants to do the OT but they're forced to anyway, the manager will give the men MORE OT because they're "strong and can tolerate the work" compared to the women in the same workplace.

I don't think he will win, but I am kind of in his corner since I do see single moms get time off, but never single dads. Now usually I would give this to the women, since most of the time they're the one with the kid and may need to do more work around the house because of that, however, I'm in this guy's corner (if he's telling the truth) because it seems like Saturday is the only day he gets to see his son.

But I wouldn't give him money for it, but it was fucked up to fire him

I've worked at Best Buy as a seasonal worker before and as a regular and AFAIK, the agreement and job description clearly states that you must have a flexible schedule (unless you have a doctors note saying you cannot for health reasons or some kind of court documentation saying you cant work on x day so you can spend time with kids) and every employee agrees to that once they sign to get hired for the job.

I don't know about best buy, but walmart goes by an availability system. If you request weekends off, you'll get them but expect your hours to be cut. The weekend is when we need warm bodies and if they happen to do so, remind them about your availability. Don't just no call no show. If the Ast Mgr refuses, take it up with a co mgr or the store mgr.
