No
Nothing illegal actually happened so I couldn't call the cops
They don't come unless they've seen something illegal happen

Story time?

So I was dealing with a situation that my coworker was working on before I came in
Some people were trying to authorize a credit charge from a third party using a form that I had never seen
that they had obviously doctored from the internet

My coworker stupidly gave them a REAL authorization form, which required a scanned copy of the credit card they want to use.

The situation was already sus because of the doctored form, but they also listed the card was issued by a Canadian Bank, the company they listed doesn't exist in Washington state, fake phone number, signature didn't match on the ID and forms, etc

I tried to call em to tell them their shit wasn't going to fly, but the number was fake so...
Two SUVs 8 deep, 6 men 2 girls, comes into our parking lot. Security was also on-site which was cool.

1 girl comes in alone to check in. VERY obviously high, unable to maintain eye contact, eyes droppy, slurring her words but functional enough that people might just think she's loopy

all i could do was tell her we can't accept her reservation
given how she was so okay with leaving, it was obviously fake

lol

like i really wanted to mess with these people

but as soon as i realized she was probably high as fuck on drugs I didn't want to mess with her, I just wanted them off the property.

in retrospect i could have lied and said there was suspicious activity on our property to the police and that I did see something but... that doesn't sit right with me

Yeah so like
at first I thought it was just her

but security LATER told me it was 2 SUVs and like 8 people

I wish he had told me sooner because THEN I would have called the police
but he only told me after they left

You could of even reported your drug suspicions or is tipping off the police to potential crime something you cant do in the US?

You could of still called the cops and they could of searched the area.

So you didn't stop human trafficking, you just shoved the responsibility to whoever was next in their list of hotels, good job.

I did say "on hotel property" which means my workplace lol

but yeah I didn't think "human trafficking" at first I just thought "heroin addicts" which
they would have left before the police got here

had i had any inkling it was probably a prostitution thing I would have asked for a patrol car

As far as I know I'm being overly paranoid and this was all just a genuine misunderstanding

You had a suspicion which is enough to tip the police off or is tipping them off something you aren't allowed to do in the US?

Well again, I'd like to reiterate that I didn't think "prostitution" at first
Heroin addicts being on property is not automatically a signal that they have drugs on them either

Basically, as bleak as it sounds, this sort of thing happens way too routinely for the local PD to react as quickly, because there's usually more shit going on. And these guys all know their biz, they know they can't stick around for long if they arouse suspicion.

So I would pretty much be wasting the police's time, as I didn't actually see anything illegal happen, nor did the security.
My "suspicions" are bunk in the eyes of the law.

I feel sorry for her. I don't think the police would make the situation better though. They rarely do in these kinds of situations from what I understand. They just want to bust in and arrest everyone.

Wait, I'm confused. The people trying to run the credit card authorization scam were different from the hookers right?

same party

basically they tried to book a room under the guise that a company (a third party) is paying for her stay

and i initially just thought "clever heroin addicts"

but later security told me there were TWO cars, and a bunch of people
had i known from the start that TWO cars pulled up I would have called a patrol car just as a precaution (as i have done in the past)

Any hotel that accepts them is shitty like that anyhow
Besides, I still think it's humorous that so many CEmen are convinced the police would have been any help here. Having been through these situations several times, I know how the local PD works w/r/t these incidents.

I didn't SEE anything illegal happen. And had I known how much other shady stuff was happening I would have called for police presence definitely.
Yall just lookin for a reason to HATE
