critics seem to adore it. What's the deal?
Never really watched the original series. Gave TNG and Enterprise a try a long time ago and liked it well enough. Never finished em though. I think it's because fans are tired of pre-Voyager settings and want to see something that progresses the timeline

Star Trek fans haven't liked Star Trek in almost 20 years. Just watch the show and enjoy it.
