Crash was designed to look good with the original low polygon limitations: he's a character with a literal hard edge. With the fuzzy fur effects removed from the Switch version, Crash's edges are a bit sharper. I still think it's aesthetically a big step down from his PS1 model, but it's a major improvement from the PS4 version. This is the same reason I think the Spyro trilogy fares a tonload better: Spyro wasn't designed to be whacky and zany like Crash. He was designed to look adorable. There's also a general fuzziness to it.
