To echo what's been said already, the first season is plenty good television, but it doesn't become truly special until seasons 2 and 3.

That's awesome, when I rewatched it with my mom a couple years ago, which was her first time really watching it, it was great getting to experience someone watching it through the first time.

I think one testament to the show is that there's only a single episode in the whole series that's particularly disliked.

There IS character that's like the most least divisive character to ever exist in any media ever.

And none of the protagonists are especially divisive in general, though people still have their favorites.

I'm thinking about getting the Blu-Ray for posterity and supporting the show and the extras and stuff.

If you wanna watch Korra after, it's still a good watch, though not as good. IMO it suffers from a couple major things that are the bulk of holding it back.
Firstly, the pacing. Be it episode to episode or even moment to moment, I never felt like they got a good balance. Either not enough was happening, or too much was happening. Things were too serious for too long, then things would be too silly for too long.
Secondly, something more spoilery but not horribly so is that there was way too much relationship drama. Too much love triangles, too much dating around. Too much not knowing who was gonna end up with who. They spent too much time focusing on that instead of character development outside of romance.

They did make some good calls on it though, like deciding to make it more mature, intended for the original audience, rather than doing the opposite LIKE SOME SHOWS DO. *glares at Cartoon Network*

I never saw it until my late 20s, and it's seriously one of the most well-written children's shows I've ever watched. I remember when it came out, a lot of people thought it was just capitalizing on anime, but it's actually better than most Japanese anime.

I know that a lot of you don't like Reaction channels, but I love watching these new people watch the show for the first time. I think it's because I love pro wrestling so much, I like people marking out

Arguably the best for fighting despite being the least defensive, can be used to keep you warm in cold environments or in winter, can be used to heat up tea and soup instantly. Can be used as a light source at night, can be used for certain types of healing. In Korra they use fire bending as a form of free energy to power the city. Can be used to travel fast but so can water, earth and air. Can use it to put out fires.
But mostly, it just looks the coolest.

They probably got trained on how to do it and it became easier for people to master as time passed.

Like how no one but Toph even thought metal bending was possible, but then in Korra lots of people can do it.
