A Louisiana Burger King reportedly refused to serve two uniformed officers who tried to order food through the drive-thru last month.

According to the Bayou Journal, the Assumption Parish sheriffs deputies had just finished SWAT training and went to a Burger King in St. Francisville to get some food.

When the police officers tried to order through the drive-thru speaker at the fast food chain, employees allegedly denied their request.

The only response was laughter, he said, WBRZ reported.

What is troubling is that these same Burger King employees, in the event a robbery was occurring at the time, would have expected these two deputies to take a bullet for them, and those deputies would have."

Businesses really need to start going back to the whole "Keep the politics at the door" policy. Refusing to serve people for political reasons will end only badly for them.

His point is that this isn't a case of "the business decided not to serve police". It's "an individual, low-level employee decided not to serve police, against company policy".

In other words, the business isn't in the wrong with respect to the law; the employee is in the wrong with respect to the company policy, which is absolutely a justified reason to fire someone. Assuming he does indeed believe "businesses should be able to refuse to serve whoever they want", I suspect that if it was Burger King's policy, as opposed to one employee's on-the-spot decision, he'd be fine with it.

EDIT: And given that, from actually reading the article, it appears that employee refused to serve everyone... I'd say that the firing is even more justified. He was literally not doing his job at all.

And when you need to call 911 in an emergency, and they notice who you are; your name will be on a special list and the police / swat will respond extra slow just for those ass-holes who laughed at them.

And when the crisis is over, those assholes who laughed at the SWAT / Police will probably be very worst off because the police / SWAT just had "convenient" things that delayed their response time to the crisis and those assholes will either be dead / injured / lost something valuable to them.

Agreed, really. While I'd find it hard to have sympathy for the victim in such a case, it's still wrong on the police's part.

You're going to have a very "Hard time" proving that the police are at fault.

There could've been traffic that day, or issues with their vehicle that suddenly cropped up inconveniently.

Etc.

It's easy to be late by 5-30 minutes for some reason.

These are people, you think they would be held to a "Higher Standard". Yeah the reality is that they're everyday people.
