It started simply enough, keeping a poinsettia alive on my desk at work, leftover from Christmas. Now I've upgraded to a spider plant that's growing like a weed. And speaking of weeds, I volunteered to help clean up my mother's front garden at her house.

Now I want to set up planter boxes in my backyard and start growing shit come next year (too late in the season to really start now)

Halp, I'm developing a new hobby

Do it. It's fun, and if you plan on doing a garden, rewarding when you start cranking out food.

I can help out with any questions or whatever. I'm a part time farmer, I grow all kinds of vegetables and herbs. I grow aquatic plants in aquariums, and have a few aquaponic systems that self sustains by pumping aquarium water through the root system. I also have a bunch of house plants just because.

I do an earth garden every year in my backyard of around 30 plants, it's a fun little hobby. Cucumbers are growing like mad this year, and my pepper plants are doing nice as well. Not so much with the tomatoes though, not sure what's going on with them.

I would love one but they need tropical conditions year round and my region wouldn't support one

my roommate's got a lot of houseplants (her partner works for a bougie-ass landscaping company and she sometimes takes their throwaways as rescues). there are a couple of ferns that she moved into the bathroom a few months ago and it seemed to help at least one of them thrive.

plants are pretty cool. i just have one little jade cutting a friend gave me back in the winter.

start a terrarium!

I would be happy to help you learn, TC. My area of expertise is in vegetables/fruit, outdoor growing in raised beds, using the Bio-Intensive method. 10 years experience, with tremendous yields for the last 7 years. Ask away.

Torn between two minds. Is either correct? Perhaps together.....but how? Can it be done?

I've done a bit of gardening in the past. But it was the kind of gardening you do way out in the bush and don't tell people about ;)

i wish i could garden

i used to grow things ever since i was a kid and played harvest moon. ive had 2 big gardens before, growing tomatoes, corn, carrots, lettuce, cabbage, broccoli, etc.

but the place i live now gets no sun, and my landlords won't let us put stuff outside.

so i just have some house plants going, but we still have no sun so it sucks.

so sad.
