Well for one thing it's a lot less expensive even than the least expensive public universities

And there are a lot less students, so for gen ed classes at least, you'd be in a class of hundreds of students at a regular university vs. a class of 20-30 students at a community college.

And since community colleges are local, you can live at home and cost of living will be a lot less

I don't think the stigma exists all that much beyond highschool on college aged people.

I'm not American but yeah I've never really understood that elitism.

If you get a degree for a specific job or whatever why does it matter? Once you have a job/career it doesn't matter anymore.

I was referring to TC and his know it all, matter of fact attitude despite lacking any actual experience in the topics he discusses.

But yeah Community College can be good and University doesnt have to be expensive. Theres grants and scholarships and fafsa is generous if you grew up in a low income family.

Community college is good because of price, ~$300 for a basic undergrad credits like English, College Algebra, Biology 101, etc. compared to ~$2500 a class at many universities. Helps save money for basic Associates Degree classes.

Other reason is for programs offered that arent offered at Universities. Things like learning a trade, EMT certification or medical coding and billing come to mind.

Universities (if you pick a good one for your major) have the perks of higher job placement and better references/its all about who you know

The only way they're better is for a free or low-priced first couple years.

But yes, topic title is true.

It depends on your major.

There's a huge amount of people who should have just went to community college, since the actual benefit of a regular college is eh.

At the same time, a university can have a serious edge of resources, and if you take advantage of that, you move like 10x faster.
