I think it has, because ever since social media websites got big the internet instead became more recluse and private.

For example: At first it actually was helping the people socialize online like when MySpace first came out. But now the only way to really meet someone online is to already know them in real life or to have a career and make at least 6 figures so you can use meetup/dating sites..

So I say it's ruined the internet, social media places like FaceBook have even been used as an excuse to not care about the closing of chatrooms/creation of newer modern chatrooms.

Then we have YouTube and now they're ruining that...

I don't even want to go online anymore to be honest..

I dunno what happened, it was fun at first, in fact it probably did make me more social. There used to be a time when you'd actually have discussions and post actual statuses on sites like Facebook and just have fun on it, now everything is either just memes or angry activism.

MSN messenger and MySpace were where it peaked as a useful medium.
