I almost always remember the dream I'm having as soon as I wake up in the morning.

Yeah. A lot of my dreams are pretty real and I have trouble sometimes recalling if something was a dream or if it really happened.

But then some of them are off the walls insane.

Almost never.

But it weird. Conscious me is almost completely aphantasic. But those few days i remember a dream, i remember it clearly being visual, but then can't recreate the pictures.

My brain sucks.

Dreams are those weird instances where the memories will disappear soon after waking up unless you make a conscious effort to remember it before getting out of bed. I remember having to do a dream journal for a class, and this is one of the things the teacher recommended we do.

Evidently, remembering dreams are given low priority in the brain, which considers it useless junk in the same way as it does glancing over the ingredient list on the back of a product. You have to kind of "write" them into long term memory soon after you wake up by recalling as much of it as you can before you forget.

I used to always tell them to my gf when i'd wake up in order to remember them better. I should start trying to keep a dream journal
