saw Red Sparrow and the first Maze Runner.

I don't think that they were bad, but I don't think that I'd watch either one again.

My viewing of movies in theaters has gone down substantially thanks to the Moviepass shenanigans, haven't seen a movie in theaters since Sorry To Bother You.

MoviePass or not, I do plan to see Christopher Robin.

I just got a full time job, so I'll have more money to go to the movies.

If there's anything I want to see, that is.

First Man and Mary Queen of Scotts are gonne be Oscar contenders for sure, so I'd check them out when they come out.

On The Basis of Sex has a solid shot too.

Not sure what else is really in the running right now though.

I low key think A Quiet Place might pull a surprise and get a BP nom.

Sorry To Both Your will get an Original Screenplay nom, maybe even a win, but that's it.

Just finished Christopher Robin and it really lacked the warmth and exuberance of the Paddington films. Eeyore was awesome most of the time though

watched the remaining two Maze Runner movies.

they're each worse than the original, which is already pretty weak.

they also made the lead too "perfect" and capable, and literally the savior

I liked the first Maze Runner, despite its flaws. Haven't seen the other 2.

Watched Eighth Grade today, liked it a lot. Nothing super amazing, but good concept with solid execution, very relatable lead character, and is extremely cringey in the best way possible.

So a theater kinda nearby was showing Yellow Submarine for it's 50th Anniversary, so me, my gf, and a couple friends went and saw it in theaters.

That was.. something.

I did enjoy it, but honestly, the end kinda soured me. It was such a bizarre, random, all over the place film, particularly in the middle. But as a result, the climax felt kinda weak. The weirdness didn't keep escalating and it peaked before the climax, and since the weirdness was basically the premise of the entire film, it mellowing out near the conclusion caused me to kind of lose interest.

I never saw Yellow Submarine when I was going through major Beatle-mania in 2007. I do have copies of A Hard Day's Night and Help, but I guess I never found Yellow Submarine on sale at Hastings when I went to buy movies

I think I'm about to put on Lego Batman. I just want to watch something fun right now

If you manage something like that I'd be both extremely happy for you and extremely jealous of you. I legitimately believed A24 will go down as a major impact and influence on our era of film. They're unbelievably significant to me.
It's unfortunate that I personally believe many behind each project will be forgotten to the larger audiences with time but as a whole I see A24 having a massive impact, even if it ended tomorrow which I don't see it doing.

If they keep going at the rate they're going, they will for sure. They're the one's cranking out the new, unique, impactful content right now. With Disney now owning close to 50% of the American film industry in terms of profits now thanks to the Fox deal (yeah, it's scary), we need companies like A24 to give us different, unique, powerful content.

This might now be the only pixar movie I have not seen. I watched Meet the Robinsons and Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs tonight for the first time (I was watching my 5 year old nephew, it was something we both could agree on) and enjoyed both. They have been on my backlog for a while, it was a good night to knock them out.

I haven't seen Lowlife, don't think I've heard of it honestly.

Definitely recommend Inside Out, it's fantastic. I love the premise, and for me at least, it's incredibly relatable. It's one of only 4 movies to ever make me cry, and the only one to make me cry every time I've seen it. >_>

Meet The Robinsons is such an underrated Disney film, I enjoy it a lot.

Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs was ok. Don't remember much about it.

I've been in the mood to rewatch Megamind lately. Probably my favorite animated comedy.

Not gonna lie, I'm thinking about seeing The Meg in theaters. It looks not good, but I feel like I'd enjoy it. I like movies based in/around the ocean for some reason.

Too bad there's not that many good ones. You got Jaws.... and.... Jaws.....

The Abyss was ok.

You definitely should. It's an NBC sitcom, but it's one of their more unique one's I've seen in awhile. Solid humor, and a surprisingly interesting plot.

I've always liked NBC sitcoms more than the other broadcast networks. They have the best 3 right now with The Good Place, Trial and Error, and Brooklyn Nine-Nine

I just watched The Descent. Decent horror movie, I enjoyed it overall. The edits/cuts were kinda all over the place, made it visually tough to follow.

Juno got kind fucked over tbh. Like, yeah, she killed Beth, but it was hardcore accidental, and shit, I would have left her behind too tbh, I ain't bout to get eaten. Yeah, fucking Sarah's husband before he died sucked, but literally killing her over it?

Also, I guess I saw the US version, cause I looked it up and read that the original version had an extra minute of run time, where apparently both Juno and the escape were hallucinated, she gets another vision of her daughter, and the monsters close in on her.

I personally would have liked that ending much better tbh. Without that ending, that subplot of the hallucinations of her daughter kinda went nowhere, and the vision of Juno in the car with her just feels like a pointless, last second jump-scare that doesn't fit the feel of the remainder of the film at all.

But apparently, they thought American audiences wouldn't like that "darker ending", so they cut it.

I fucking hate bullshit changes like that. It's literally a horror movie. If you want happy shit, watch something else.

I will say though, the all-female cast was pretty dope.

Juno is also the reason they're all in there in the first place, though. Not telling them they're in an unmapped cave, and then trying to justify it by saying it's supposed to be risky or some shit. Coupled with killing Beth and lying about it, and having an affair with Sarah's husband, I have absolutely no sympathy for her at all.

She is an awful person.

The Descent Spoilers:
While true, it's not like she did it out of malice. She had some fucked up justification, but that's about it. Really, the only thing she potentially did out of malice was sleeping with Sarah's husband, but that's as much on him as it is her.

Watched Crazy Rich Asians today, really enjoyed it. Not a huge fan of Rom-Coms usually, but this one was really well made, had some good jokes, and had surprisingly well developed leads. There were a couple of small film editing consistency issues, but most movie-goers probably wouldn't notice/and or care, just as someone who does a lot of editing it bugged me a bit. Didn't detract from my overall enjoyment of it though.

Definitely solid, I'd recommend checking it out.
