My garage door opener sometimes doesn't count the first button you press, so I have to press the first button twice to get it to recognize

Who knocks or rings the doorbell besides police, delivery people, door-to-door ministry or salespeople anymore? If you're expecting someone, standard protocol these days is for them to call you when they pull up.
