You seriously implying the average 30 year old has a 20 year financial cushion?

I think it's just a young person thing to say, but I think it's usually said more by people who are depressed and they see the kinds of seniors that are crippled, frail, and sick and for reason think that's the norm for people that age.

I drink a lot and I have no interest in the idea of not drinking. I'm not really a millennial though. I'm gen x/millennial border, based both on age and lifestyle. I've always been terrified of the idea of being elderly anyway and if I didn't drink, I wouldn't really care to do anything.

Partly this anyways.

That said 15 year old me never imagined life beyond 25. But at about 27 I realized how fucking dumb people are about age. And I mean.... I'm p dumb cause look at the numbers. Lol.

Right now you don't.

Then fucking take care of yourself ffs.

My dad is 61 and in far better shape, far stronger, and far more capable than most 25 year olds I know.

If dying at 50 or 60 sounds better to you than living an active lifestyle and eating halfway decently then you're fucked up tbh. And my dad is a borderline alcoholic who smokes. Get it together buds.

I do take care of myself, and will continue to. If I ever reach a point where my mind is starting to fail me, I can't even workout the same as I could, I'm starting to get various medical issues, and I can't even use my dick anymore on top of all that, can't say I really have the desire to live much past that.

I don't know if 50/60 exactly will be that age for me but eventually, assuming I don't drop dead or otherwise die from something unrelated before then, whatever that age ends up being where I've dropped off that much, I don't really care to continue living.

And if he's in better shape than most 25 year olds you know, you should really meet some new 25 year olds.

I worked a summer firefighting on his crew when he was 58 or 59. I was one of two guys on an 8 man crew who would keep up with him in terms of strength or cardio.

I was also the 2nd oldest guy on that crew behind my dad. And the other guy who could keep up with us also smoked.

Diet and exercise all day man. Smoking is bad and has a very significant effect.... But it's not some magical inherent barrier to being physically healthy either.

There was a day we found a burning stump that was nearly a one kilometre hike across steep unstable shale that we could only get water on with piss cans (back pack water guns essentially) and the only 3 who didn't collapse and give out were me, my old man, and a 21 year old smoker. Everyone else was shy of 30 and didn't smoke and they physically couldn't keep going after hiking back and forth a dozen times. We kept it up 3 times as long.

If you're taking halfway decent care of yourself you're gonna be more than fine at 50. Or 60. Joe Rogan is 50....you think he's not more fit than 98% of CE man?

I've seen some healthy ass people get dragged down by medical issues hitting around 60.

I don't really agree with 50/60 exactly but I'd probably agree if it was bumped a bit to later 60's - 70's. Even if I'm physically doing okay I don't want the cognitive drop off to be there and vice versa. Most of the time when there's some old person like that and people say things like "oh [they're] still sharp as a tack" or some shit, they're usually not even close generally speaking and by not old person standards.
