Welp it had a good run. Daryl is a boring character don't see how he can carry the show for too long.

Just make Negan the lead. Easy.

lauren cohen is also leaving the show
and the actress who plays michonne is currently in high demand so i doubt she will stick around much longer either

the show is dying and should have ended with the all out war arc

Daryl was eye-candy, at least ... until he stopped ever washing/grooming his hair.

But as a lead for the show? I don't see that at all. Mr. Reedus is not really leading-man material...he's fine as support/character work, but the lead ... nah.

Yup. Here's my idea of how it goes down.

Rick kicks the bucket, with no one else to step in as leader, Michonne steps in, but she has no real leadership experience. There's only one other known leader living in Alexandria: Negan. She consults him for advice (much like Rick did in the comics). They eventually start to build rapport (over a LONG period of time), Negan begins to genuinely earn back the group's trust and either remains a co-leader with Michonne at Alexandria, or stays in the background as some sort of trusted advisor. Either way, he becomes an important member of Alexandria.

Now this complicates things with Maggie. Maggie wants to kill Negan to avenge Glenn's death, but also realizes this will start a war with Alexandria and the Hilltop. Tensions rise until the Whisperers' come along and they're forced to set things aside to deal with this threat.

Then at some point way later down the road, Maggie grows out of her blood feud with Negan.

Rick's one of the worst characters in the past 3-4 seasons, and Maggie was never that great, so this could be an okay move. Still, unless we cull like 90% of the extras in the united group, it seems like a band-aid, not an actual fix. I feel bad for that chick who's going to be the showrunner after Gimple (unless that already happened, which I might've forgotten).

Or if they really don't wanna deal with this shit, just start a whole new spinoff show with an older version of Judith Grimes. Alexandria's still in tact, Negan's still kicking, but he's sort of like Judith's horny old uncle and now civilization has mostly rebuilt itself all over the entire U.S., making it a true post-post Apocalypse story.

except that wont happen because lauren cohen is basically leaving the show as well
the comic took the maggie/negen relationship to an interesting angle she doesnt forgive him for what he did but realizes he feels genuine guilt for his actions so letting him live with his guilt is a worse fate than just killing him like he wants her to do so thats how she gets her revenge but letting him live

I thought she just wanted more pay. If Andrew Lincoln is leaving, then that definitely clears up a large enough chunk of the budget to where they can give Lauren a better offer.

From what I heard, she's cast as the lead in some new show that may or may not get picked up. If that show does get picked up, it drastically reduces her availability for The Walking Dead.

The only way the show could possibly survive this IMO is if they can work an arc where Negan ends up in a leadership position of some sort. Obviously he would never, ever be de facto leader, but if a repentant Negan were to somehow end up on a council with Daryl, Maggie, Carol, etc., that could be fun. They desperately need his charisma, he's been the most (...only?) interesting character to watch for the last couple years.

If it's really just gonna be The Daryl Show, it's gonna die a real slow, painful death.

I'd say 3/4. I liked him and Merle in S3 and his stint with the crazy biker gang that culminated in the "you're my brother" conversation between him and Rick was solid.

So is he just quitting right? I think the show had a good run. It needs to get lost by season 9 or no more than season 10 or it will over welcome their stay... like it hasn't already though.

Maggie is leaving. No way would she forgive Megan, not over her dead body at least.

Man this show is gonna be dead after season 9. /:
