boomers easily.

they're the reason why retail workers have to awkwardly start conversations, hover around customers and try to meme up a sale in case a mystery shopper appears.

when I worked retail we were told to do that shit and fuss over the customer. in reality no one likes that shit besides boomers.

I don't understand why a simple greeting then if someone is looking a bit lost asking them if they needed help wasn't enough.

to me good customer service was and still is a simple
-hey/hi greeting (just to acknowledge I'm there and to be nice)
-did you need a hand with anything? oh just looking? no worries, just ask if you need some help.

that's it. if a shop assistant tries to talk to me anymore than that i just feel like they are trying to swindle me and makes me want to leave.

it's like boomers need someone to tell them what to buy and don't do any research themselves beforehand. it's like they love the whole being swindler sales tactic.

I really don't understand how someone can go and make somewhat big expensive purchases and not have a solid idea of what they want before hand.

I'm thinking Gen X. The "I need to speak to the manager" and "I'm going to be belligerent until I get free food" people tend to be people in their late thirties to early 50s now. That's Gen X.

The poll looks like people are just voting for whichever group they like the least.

Millennials: 22-37 years old
Gen X: 38-53 years old
Boomers: 54-72 years old

I'm no Millennial that's for damn sure, even if I'm 31

Nope, you're undeniably a millennial, pretty much right in the dead center.

No need to embarrass yourself by pretending you're "different from them."

Nope, doesn't work like that.

I said there's no need to embarrass yourself, but if you insist, keep going. :)

Bad customers are about age, not generation.

Worst customers are always 30-55. Right now just happens to be mostly gen x, though older millennials are getting to the right age too.

In my years of dealing with the public I would say the 18 to 30 demographic. Some groups are more demanding than others

Embarrass myself? On a message board? Is it even possible for someone to care?

I think you get people are the worst. They seriously have NO manners.

You should NEVER, under ANY circumstances respond with, what? or yeah.
