Looking for recommendations of articles, books, etc. Hopefully the toothbrush ecosystem hasn't changed too drastically since I left off.

Y'all remember that one girl who wouldn't shower for weeks on end and document her journey? What was her name, like stinkprinces or something?

She at one point her stench was so severe that she walked out of her home and a downwind carried it to a neighbor and they gagged.

Anyway just brush your teeth.

Your gums will bleed. Brush anyway.

Keep brushing. Eventually your gums will stop bleeding.

Put paste to brush, and scrub teeth. Oh, don't freak out when your gums start bleeding. It's not normal, but it is also nothing to worry about unless you are a hemophiliac.

Don't worry about brushing your teeth, start dippin.

The dip will clean your teeth without the need for a brush.

You're supposed to brush in small circles along the gums. Gets all the nastiness that gets jammed up there.

Brush all of the tooth of course, but go along the gums for the best clean.

And no, you don't brush until you bleed. Bleeding means your gums were sensitive and inflamed. Once you get into a normal routine they'll look and feel better.

Better get brushing.
You might wanna visit a dentist to make sure if no extra treatment is needed.
It'll be alright. Just consistently brush twice a day.

If this is true. The best thing to do is going to a dentist and get a tooth cleaning. Then brush your teeth daily following the dentists instrucions.

I will get ostracized for saying this. But what ever.

I grew up with a poor drug addicted family so was never taught to brush my teeth. But I never bothered to learn to do it.

34 years, not one cavity, amazing smelling breath. Literally when ever I go to dentist they are like "wow what ever you are doing keep it up! You have the healthiest gums I have ever seen!"

I have a Marine friend who had a similar upbringing. So he never brushed his either. Same thing, dentist brag about how great his gums are, and he has never had a cavity.

I have two brothers who once they hit puberty and found out about our parents being worthless shits. They started brushing their teeth. Both have TONS of dental issues, like 10+ cavities. One brother even lost a bunch of his teeth to the cavities in late twenties.

Sure you all will make fun of me, or call me a liar. But it is 100% true.

My wife who religiously brushes her teeth has had about 6 cavities in her life, and her breath always smells rancid when she wakes up. Her gums also bleed when dentist pick at them.

But mine, never smells, not even a little. When they pick at my gums, no bleeding either. Not like my wife who looks like a vampire during it.

This anecdotal evidence has me sold; I will never brush my teeth again.

Fine if you want more evidence, why are animals in the wild not losing all their teeth?

Why are they not filled to the brim with cavities, gum disease, and tooth loss.

My theory is that brushing kills what ever natural protection you have. So once you shave it off with a brush it is gone.

So pretty much once you start you have to forever.

Funny story about that, my friend's Dad, who in most ways is a pretty decent person, has not Brushed his teeth or gone to the dentist is 30+ years, his teeth (or what is left of them) are just little black nubs, and his gums are this gross reddish black. He single highhandedly scared me into routinely going to the dentist and of course Brushing and flossing. I would NOT recommend not taking care of your teeth.

Sugar did that.

If you eat a natural diet with no soda, no candy, no sweets at all. Plenty of high fiber vegetables, fruit, and meat you won't need to brush your teeth. Me personally even though I avoid sugar like the plague and have never had a cavity as a result I still brush and rinse twice daily as its just a habit at this point.

After two years of not brushing, there's a good chance of massive calculus buildup. I suggest visiting an oral hygienist to get rid of that, but no need to rush it if that would be expensive.
