I prefer the iPhone for day to day stuff, but prefer the Android for stuff over and above calls/messages etc. I wouldn't swear allegiance to either of the phones but I do find myself going for the iPhone out of convenience, whereas I save the Android phone for more finicky stuff. Couldn't pick between them. Note: iPhone 6S and Xperia XZ1 Compact. My Android phones have been indestructible, in fact one of the first things I do with my phones is to run them under the tap.
