Recently played the first one for the first time.

I did not expect a court drama game to be that good.

The investigation portions were kinda annoying though.

The Layton vs. Wright game was really interesting, but idk where I'd rank that one.

Haven't played the 3DS ones yet, but I'm in the middle of replaying the series (just finished 3-3) and will get to them after replaying Apollo Justice.

Anyone who thinks AA2 isn't the worst game in the series, needs to be banned from video games.

Man, people just cannot get over crapping on 4.

I mean, yeah, 4 had problems, definitely (underwhelming protagonist, really stupid case 3, low-impact ending) but it also had great characters, some of the best music in the series, an incredible opening case, and a solid plot thread to work off in a future game (though they haven't yet, which is annoying).

Meanwhile 2 never really gets that exciting. It's really only good, I think, if you get invested in Maya and Phoenix's relationship. Other than that it's a decent but unmemorable entry.

Apollo Justice had good music but they really shat all over Phoenix's character after 3 games and the 2nd and 3rd case (especially the 3rd case) are awful >_>

Same. I feel like they could have made it something more impactful, like Phoenix really does believe the orb belongs to Kurain village, and he wants to get it back so Maya can claim her rightful place as master, or something. It would have made that trial so much more emotional to see Apollo and Phoenix battle each other for their own ideals.

They could have easily found another way to continue the thread normally after that, just give him a stronger reason to stand in court at that time.

Nah. 2-4 is top 3 best case of series, 2-2 is kind of eh but it introduces a lot or backstory and together with 1-4 and 3-1/3-4 sets everything up for 3-5. 2-3 is the main controversial one and tbh I actually liked it, the goofy atmosphere really showed how wacky ace attorney is at its core and it's very satisfying breaking both the arrogant witnesses and Franziska in court and I like it better than both 3-2 and 3-3. It's also one of the few cases where Phoenix doesn't get carried by Mia at all in the first trilogy.
AA4 is worst game. Best case is literally the first case.

3 = I2 > 6 > 2 = 5 > 1 > LvAA > 4 > I1

I'll be honest, I do think AA1 is overrated. It's one of those games that's really really good when you first beat it, but has a lot of issues on later runs. Case 1 is like 20 minutes, case 2 has a lot of flaws and is a very simple case, 3 and 4 are both solid, and 5 has a lot of plot holes. The game is a big step down in terms of both writing and case structure from the others.

I'll always say that 2 is underrated too. 2-2 and 2-4 are both really strong cases, and 2-3...I see why people hated it, but I always really liked how it touched on just how people handle death more than any other case in the series. I find it to be a solid case once you look past its goofy characters and stuff. There are some really dark themes buried in there. I definitely understand hating it though, because it took me until my 3rd or 4th run of it to start liking it.
