Money. Boy Scout membership has been dropping for years now. It's just not something kids are as interested in anymore. Maybe it's because more sports opportunities are available. It's probably a combination of a lot of things, but regardless, membership is down. Which means its making less money. The BSA is trying to do what it can to stay financially solvent. Like the alternative here is that the Boy Scouts just stop existing after awhile. Then there is even less space for boys only stuff. I really enjoyed my 12 years in the Boy Scouts. I learned a lot, had a lot of fun, and made a lot of friends.
