Board 8 > Finally brought myself to finish Final Fantasy XV.

Actually I bought it for PC because it cost the same as potentially buying all the DLC on PS4.

So I started completely over and redid everything.

The game was...ok, I guess?

I don't know, the combat both grew on me and became stale at the same time.

The last boss gauntlet was a bunch of damage sponges. The fights were just...long. I wouldnt call them fun. Cerberus was fun and everything else was...not.

The game also very obviously ran out of development time and was released incomplete. So many of the areas in the last part of the game just feel like they are desperately asking to be explored(They even taunt you by bringing the Regalia along even though you will see it once in an area you cant explore) and then...you cant. Because you cant. Hell all those recipes you learned on Ignis throughout the game? Ingredients stockpiled? Too bad because no more camps after a certain point.

I'm left basically feeling like it could have been a very good game but am left with a very mediocre feeling.

So...is the DLC worth playing?

You musta been weak late game or not been using your armiger. I was trucking those guys in no time.

The only enemy that gave me fits (and possibly because I had no teammates) was the enemy in the walls of the underpass. That thing was annoying.

Probably could have spammed the Armiger more.

It just didn't feel particularly fun to use so I didn't use it much. Still wouldn't have made the fights fun, just marginally quicker.

I don't know if its so much terrible as it is that it just teases stuff you will never experience. All these areas seemingly have full maps you are just itching to explore but nope.

All the way up to the end, you get the full map back and its like "hey i wonder how this affected everywhere" and the game just goes "nope" and you move to the ending sequence.

Played Episode Gladiolus.

Apparently his little side mission was pretty pointless overall. But not as useless as Cor, who continues to be a waste of space in the game.

Gameplay was fine, its a lot more fun when you remove all the extra dumb stuff Noct got as the game went along.

Last boss for whatever reason has a harder first form than second, since it seemed he did nothing but spam unblockables against a character that needs to block to be able to do damage.

Overall very short, probably not worth the cost people have likely paid for it.

Episode Prompto acts like its going to give you a world to explore, sticks a sidequest in front of you...and then immediately transitions to the final portion.

Prompto's reveal in the main game was really dumb. This is only slightly less dumb.

Unfortunately, Prompto gameplay is terrible. Really, really, really terrible.

Also I didn't complain about this and have been meaning to do so.

I am sick of games/movies/etc deciding that they need to start at a point that isn't the beginning. And I am especially annoyed when they do it for absolutely no reason.

FFXV starts off at a point that at the end of the day isn't even a particularly important part of the plot(Its important but...there are bigger more important points in the game). Theres just no reason in the narrative for that sequence to need to exist.
