Notable Accolades:

Luigi FINALLY proving his haters wrong and making a Sweet 16 appearance for the first time in a contest.
Kirby had this in his favor and he just dropped the ball here with Luigi winning.
Luigi had an improved track record after winning this match-up since then.

Notable Accolades:

The first time the Clinkeroth trio had legitimately lost to another member of the Noble Nine since 2002.
With there being no 4-way blunders being in the way, it was nice to see a FF7 character lose to someone.

The best matches tend to be those with two good characters going up against each other.

Both are pretty good matches. I gotta go with Snake/Sephiroth, because it was the first 1-on-1 match where Clinkeroth lost to somebody that wasn't Clinkeroth. Pretty significant historically.

Luigi/Kirby was good too because it made us re-think some of the supposed Nintendo hierarchies.

I actually had Luigi > Kirby. I wanted Zero to win that fourpack but thought Luigi would take it, board 8 convinced me Zero would take it and I forgot to chance my bracket.

Seph lost to Snake. Bah..
