Generally when you see someone with a whip as a weapon, ur like lol at this stupid asshole.

Exceptions are

Indiana Jones
Simon from Castlevania
Runescape abyssal whip

Every other use of a whip as weapon in history is a joke.

I played a bard who used a whip in a D&D game. He was the group's best front-line fighter because I could use the whip to demoralize all enemies within 30 feet of me and trip anyone who came within 15 feet, up to 3 times per round. So basically I would make all the enemies suck, knock them all to the ground, and then the fighters would run up and clobber the bastards while they were prone. Eventually I got a magic whip that I could control with thought which could tie enemies up with a grapple check.

My whip was so useful that every member of the party decided to get whips.

well whips arent really meant to be used as weapons
they are used to torture people and in fact arent very good to use in a fight at all
