A woman accused of cutting off her boyfriends penis with a pair of gardening shears has revealed why she did it.

Brenda Barattini, 26, said that she carried out the attack because her lover Sergio Fernandez, 40, shared a sex tape with his friends. He lost 90 per cent of his penis in the attack in Nueva Corboda, Argentina

She is now being detained ahead of a trial following her arrest.

She told a reporter from his cell: I cut his penis but not completely; I injured him. It wasnt complete; I injured him. They didnt find the video, I dont know what happened.

Sergio Fernandez was pictured shortly after his penis was chopped off by his girlfriend. Blood at the scene of the grisly crime in Argentina. Barattini claimed that she never said it wasnt her and that she didnt do it for nothing.

This is also a cultural issue.

Everybody sees this penis-cutting thing as female empowerment and silliness like that. Penis cutting attacks were rare before Bobbit, now they're commonplace. What's the proportionality here? I cannot really fault her too much. I could even see myself doing the same if I were a female in her situatuation especially if any such sex taape was non recorded without my consent. But even if you consent to the tape or pictures does not mean you consent ro sharing and thus it is a massive invasion of privacy and was to understand how someone could commit such an act in the heat of the moment.

I am not saying her actions were justified but they are understandable.
