Anyone else unsubscribe from Channel Awesome yet? If you haven't you probably want to...like now, like right now. Huge allegations incoming.

The Walker brothers (Doug and Rob) are being accused of turning content creators into slave laborers, not to mention accusations of sexual abuse that went on for YEARS at Channel Awesome.

Don't believe me, do ya? Well it's all in this Google Docs:

I remember watching Nostalgia Critic back in 2008, my friend showed him to me in Highschool. I remember laughing real hard. But now I look at him, I just want to punch my screen knowing what he';s responsible for...cruelty towards content creators...firing said creators for no reason, and the sexual misconduct?!

I don't know how anyone could watch that stuff those early days of Internet video were dark times indeed. Everything about the guy was just grating from his face to the way he talked and acted and his awful sense of humor I couldn't tolerate watching more than a few seconds of his videos.

I used to like NC, but his style is so grating now. I also hate that he shows his ugly shaved head in every video. It's super creepy.

I stopped watching him when he started reviewing modern stuff even though he is called the Nostalgia Critic

its not doug and rob being accused of sexually harassing people or using them as slave labor
they were more than happy to leave the site in someone elses hands.

the documents only say that doug is rather immature and very unprofessional and doesnt seem to understand the basics of film making and once laughed at lindsay ellis for pointing out that they didnt have craft services for one of the movies they did as if she was asking for special treatment

people literally had to tell them that even student films get craft services

I stopped paying any attention to him after he killed NC and did Demo Reel.

I started paying even less attention to him after he brought back the NC but it was now a big overproduced clusterfuck that was pretty much nothing like the old NC.

I never subscribed. I always thought Nostalgia Critic was shit, and I never found any of the weirdos on the site particularly entertaining.

I read the doc though. It sounds like a bunch of people with mental disorders getting taken advantage of by a conman tbqh. Sad shit but at the same time they needed to grow a backbone.

Just subscribed. Millennials are mad that they have to work. There is no downfall for Doug. His last video got 500K in less than 2 days. Maybe channel awesome is dead as a site but who gave a fuck about it.

Plus losing just 3000 subs when lots of former and current employees are coming for you just means that you paid then too much because they just can't beat you. Their reach is 3000 people.

A few months ago on another forum, someone was saying the Nostalgia Critic looked like a creep when someone else just posted a picture of him showing his receding hairline. I thought it was stupid to say he looks creepy just because he has a receding hairline, and it is.

Didn't think Nostalgia Critic would actually turn out to be a huge creep, smh.

Basically some dillweed named Mike is in charge of CA and owns the rights to NC and some of the other properties associated with the site.

He's gotten into nasty workplace fights with former content creators who left the site and a lot of people are leaving since Obsucurus Lupa and Nostalgia Chick (And a third former CA person, her name escapes me atm) posted a lot of the horrible shit he's done in a massive blog post/twitter discussion, and he's accused of treating women worse then men.

Because of this it's come out that Rob is an asshole (Which tbqh I think everyone already knew, and most NC fans like that he's like that, on camera at least) and Doug struggles with technology and financial shit, and both of them kind of turned a deaf ear to all the nonsense happening as content creators jumped ship.

Honestly, while it will almost definitely kill CA, the NC is here to stay IMO.

I honestly thought Rob's pretentious asshole schtick was just an act or maybe he appeared that way to counter Doug's decent guy persona. What bothers me in the end is that this kind of shit happened before when they were all part of the League of Super Critics and when that channel was abandoned, they moved on to an apparently even harsher work environment with another piece of garbage pulling the strings again. It's not even a traditional place of employment that alot of people could put up with just for a paycheck either.

Pretty much every decent person on CA should jump ship imo

Man, Spoony is such a depressing failure story.

His videos started out fun then he had a meltdown then he seemed to maybe pull himself together then he had a second, bigger meltdown and ran off with a bunch of Patreon money to do nothing and complain about the people who expected material from him.

It makes it tough to go back and watch some of his videos from when he was reasonably ok.

There were a few great ones. Cinema Snob is still the best youtube movie reviewer out there, Linkara was entertaining and had a very specific niche that made him worth watching (particularly love his series on Power Rangers), some of the older Nostalgia Critic is worth watching (especially the Disneycember stuff, which isn't even a full NC vid)

And some of NC's crew like Malcolm is fun to watch

I stopped watching Channel Awesome back when Obscurus Lupa, Phelous, and a couple others left the site. The content was already getting worse, but when I read about how badly management was treating some of the contributors, I didn't want to support the site anymore.
