Gay men in recent years earned substantially more than straight men with similar education, experience, and job profiles.

Whoa.

Well I mean if honesty is considered, the straight pool is far more heavily diluted I would imagine. So your results are skewed as well.

I'm going to hold my breath, surely it won't be long until feminists try to fix the straight man wage gab . . .

Well I for one will not tolerate this and will be bringing this up to my local officials. Need to end all of this unequal pay nonsense, and make sure were all paid the same no matter who we are.

It's more that they've decided that gay men are no longer oppressed and have been tossed out of the "inner circle" for not fighting hard enough. They're now in the same camp as indians, asians, and every other minority that is "privileged"

Doubtful? If I could guess, it would be that gay men are probably more driven in general because their overt differences growing up cultivate introspection, which is the difference between walking through life blindly and charting a course.

Not really a surprise.

Less likely to have outside financial demands like family.
More likely to be better educated, if they don't end up homeless as kids stuck in the south.
Fewer distractions

Yah, I've thought about this for a while and I have a hypothesis. A major reason gay people seem to be financially better off than straight people is because gay people who aren't financially well off don't have the luxury of coming out the closet. Less affluent communities tend to be more conservative, so there is a greater risk in being open. As a result, polls skew.

Money can't buy you happiness, but it does buy you the freedom to pursue happiness.

Yes, I believe so.

But I didn't hear about it until this morning, when my gay co-worker brought it up.

I think the data normalizes for education level, and rules out most other potential venues that are used to prove that the gender wage gap doesn't exist. It's an apples to apples comparison and the only potential explanations are literally culture and/or likelihood to live in an urban environment (with an average higher cost of living and paycheck.
