Stan Lee got the idea to make a god hero. His first thought was Hercules but then he decided that greek myth was too stereotypical and he wanted to do a mythology not used as often. then he came up with Norse. if he hadn't realized it would be too stereotypical, we could have had Hercules in the Avengers instead.
Hercules later was added to Marvel, but as a kindof side character to Thor when they added in the Greek gods as kindof cousins to the Asgardians. Hercules sometimes helps out the avengers in the comics and hes kindof a funny guy. maybe he could show up some day in a future Thor movie. ... Copied to Clipboard!

Stan Lee made the right choice. But if Hercules does ever show up in the MCU, I hope he's played by Kevin Sorbo.

Hercules is cooler than Thor, but he made the right decision. It would've been awkward to have such a well known figure of mythology chilling out with the Avengers. It'd be like having Robin Hood as a member of the Justice League.
Besides, doesn't DC have Hercules as a Wonder Woman villain? It seems like it'd be too easy a potshot for the competition if they could cast one of your star heroes as villainous foil for one of their own. And, yes, I know that Marvel has its own Hercules. I'd kinda like for them to quietly put that character away and replace him with the Disney Hercules, but that's another story. ... Copied to Clipboard!

My main exposure to Marvel Hercules is the event Fear Itself where he played a part and had a mini series tie in to the main events. I liked him in that. he hangs out at a bar and talks about his glory days in ancient greece. he's basically a drunkard with super strength and always thinking about past adventures and wanting to relive them
