I wasn't allowed to play Runescape for like 3 years because it had magic in it.

I also wasn't allowed to play Rated T for Teen games til I was like 11 or 12.

Man some people's parents are crazy. I was sat reading an Aleister Crowley book earlier while my daughter watched Paw Patrol.

I only heard stories about this, like not being allowed to watch or read harry potter cause of witchcraft. or parents being worried about kids playing dnd cause of satanism or whatever. never actually saw it happen or know anyone it happened to tho

No, I didn't grow up in a (hardcore) religious household, so Harry Potter and similar stuff wasn't an issue at all, I had all the books, etc.

My parents didn't really care all too much in general about what I watched, read or played as a kid/young teen. My mom kind of sometimes acted like she did but pretty much did nothing to stop me from getting anything I wanted. I had complete free reign of the Internet (computer in my room, unfiltered Internet) from the age of like 12-13.

My stepmother forbade MtG in the house because of witchcraft.

The emotional abuse I suffered from her which nearly drove me to suicide as a kid was pretty bad, but it was that Magic business that really soured my view of her.

I got a couple stern lectures between ages 9-12 when my folks were drifting a bit into stricter Christianity, but nothing like that was ever outright forbidden.

I had a friend with a similar situation, he was allowed a Gameboy and Mario but was forbidden from pokemon because, the way his mom put it, you're not allowed to call on anything to protect you or fight your battles for you other than god. This was in 3rd grade I think

Yea, my mom banned a few things from the household. Just a few examples off the top of my head;

D&D was "the devil" (as was anything set in the middle-ages... Though she did come down from that eventually)
Cartoons that depicted the devil in any way were off-limits (ex: Cow & Chicken and Rocko's Modern Life)
