It's not a dating site per se but I hear a good portion of the user base is single and looking.

I'm OK with that as long as they're not whales.

Probably depends on the town. For some reason more than half of the meet ups here are old people things, even if they aren't advertised like that, and others sound like either weird cults or kinks. I have a friend though that has done stuff where he's at in SC and in Austin through meetup.

Outside of the actual "singles night out" groups I never really saw it as a dating thing.

I mean you can def meet people and date them, which is the point. My friend met his fiance from a volleyball meetup. But it's not like a specific dating platform.
