Hey I feel for you Tc, this stuff is always hard to think about and shocking when you first hear about it. I was diagnosed with lymphoma 2 years ago and fought through it. Mine were in my chest (had 11 enlarged lymph nodes) and on my lungs apparently. Had to have chemotherapy for 6 months. I do wish you the best and from what my doctor told me, it's very treatable and has a very low chance of ever coming back.

I'm sorry to hear that, but try not to panic. Everyone hears 'Cancer' and they think death sentence, but when it is caught early enough, and depending on the type, it can actually be highly treatable. Follow your doctor's instructions and try to stay healthy and positive.

My memory is extremely hazy but I think hamstein had a deadly version of leukemia and he was pretty much doomed from the start but he always had a positive outlook and got tons of support here from the very end.

It was so sad, every time he posted an update it was about how much worse shit had gotten but he was always positive about it.

I admire the hell out of people like that and I hope I can approach this with that degree of positivity.

I mean here I am in a much better position and I'm already making grim contingencies on what to do if the worst happens.

There's still a ways to go on that. I have a CT scan of my p much my whole body this week. So that will go a long way of telling if it's spread elsewhere or not (my main concern right now).

Sorry to hear about the health problems.

That's actually been the biggest shocker out of all of this. This is basically the only real health problem I ever had in my life. Everything else has been just a cold or flu pretty much. Otherwise a picture of perfect health.

And yeah, I think that's the biggest horse to get back on is just going out and functioning again.

I've gone out to dinner a bunch of times and spent some time out with friends. It definitely helps a lot, but it's always there just kinda lurking at the back of my mind.

I'm sorry to hear about your grandpa. I'm in the same sort of boat. Lost mine to prostate cancer that just spread everywhere. It was fucking awful to watch.

Tbh that was the first thing going through my head when I was diagnosed. Bringing back memories of me seeing my grandfather pretty much rot away in front of me.

And yeah I'll definitely be here every step of the way (not much else to do while on chemo, I reckon lol) so you guys will have a front row seat.

Definitely motivated to beat the fuck out of this shit though.

I'm hoping they're able to tell me soon lol. The waiting is craaaaapppp.

It's rather interesting, I've heard that non-Hodgkins, particularly if it's a slower growing kind, is harder to send into remission than Hodgkins.

Which is shit, because you think the slow one would be easier to get rid of.

But yeah, my understanding is even with that they both have a great remission rate. Something like 95%

Though as for the stage, there's definitely swelling on both sides of my neck (front and back). And IIRC the doctor did say something about the CT scan showing lumps on both sides.

So I think that's a later stage of the cancer or something, when it's both sides. I think I read that somewhere or something Iunno.

I didnt read the whole topic, but according to google

The one-year survival rate for all patients diagnosed with Hodgkin's lymphoma is about 92 percent. The five-year survival rate is about 86 percent. For people with stage 4 Hodgkin's lymphoma, the survival rate is lower. But even in stage 4 you can beat the disease.N

No, unfortunately. I'm having a full body CT scan on Wednesday morning, but not much else going on atm. For obvious reasons I've forgone picking up contracts and jobs until I have a better idea of what's going on.

Still waiting to hear from an ENT specialist who's supposed to book me for a biopsy though. My doctor put in a request this morning, I think.

Basically that I was already in remission.

Supposably the Epstein-Barr Virus fucks with your system in such a way that it makes you more likely to develop lymphoma later on.

I had the same reaction to my doctor when she told me. "I eat healthy and exercise". She said it's not so much an issue of your overall health, it's just something inside breaks for whatever reason. It's random. Obviously environmental factors can play a role, but mostly just a cell happens to get banged up.

She said I'd drive myself crazy if I tried to pinpoint why this happened to me.
