Well yeah. That's exactly why they named it that. The two key ingredients when it originally launched were cocaine and caffeine, from the Coca leaf and the Kola nut.

Because originally, cocaine was the active stimulant in coca cola until it was outlawed and was switched to caffeine.

Actually, it originally used both. Even today they still use the Coca leaf, but only after treatment to remove the cocaine. The cocaine is sold for pharmaceutical purposes. Apparently only one business in the country can import and process coca leaves and only one can purchase and process the cocaine.

Fact: Coca Cola is flavored with coca leaves that have had their drug component removed.

There is a company that extracts the cocaine for medical purposes (it's used as an emergency painkiller like for gunshot / stab wounds) and sends some leftover stuff to coca cola to flavor the soda with.

Interesting...

I knew it used to be brewed with coca leaves, but didn't know they were still doing it.

Basically that's why there hasn't been a true copycat for this brand.

Might be part of it but also even something as abstract as flavors can be copyrighted. It's why different brands of the same product will always taste at least a little different. Even store brands that are produced by big names. For example, Publix potato chips are made by Golden Flake but they don't really tase any more similar than GF and Lay's.
