weird how everybody sees galuf as monk naturally. lenna is white mage obvi
FARIS being black mage... i always saw her as a thief archetype

I actually had Lenna as the thief earlier and then switched her to white mage after she got some thief skills. Faris was a white mage at first and then a blue mage. Now she's a black mage with the blue mage learn skill so I can still get monster spells

so trying to force a woman into traditional gender roles as the healer
thats not obvious
open your eyes man and fight back against the patriarchy
this has everything to do with feminism and not just because i think she looks terrible in the white mage job and the monk is the one she looks best in for the starter jobs

i only ever make bartz a thief
like i said i pick the jobs based on who looks best in the role
sometimes its a toss up like with the dragoon where both bartz and lenna look great in the role
or the dancer where bartz and faris look great in the role

idk her personality type is stereotypical of a mage role

i choose white mage first because i need healing and she's a good candidate
generally i switch her to something like time mage tbh

honestly its not
she is brash and forceful and rushes headlong into danger several times alone throughout the game

This is pretty much how I saw it too. When I played FF5 back in the day, I started Bartz as a Knight, Faris as a Thief, Galuf as a Monk, and Lenna as White Mage.

The story in that game is FF1 level of derivative, but the gameplay is soooooooooo good.

I don't know if it's the same in the GBA version, but I think the Steam/mobile version has Bartz and Faris' base stats biased very slightly toward physical classes while Lenna and Galuf are biased towards magic. It won't really matter at all what you class them as though.

Huh. That is odd. I've started the game on like three separate occasions without remember anything about the previous ones and Galuf always ended up a monk.

TBH i realized this playing the game and taht's why she ends up as a time mage instead of white mage
but she'll spend time as knight or something for a bit

I thought Bartz was geared toward strength, Galuf to HP, Faris to agility, and Lenna to magic. If I recalled correctly. But the stat biases at so minor any character can do anything well enough.

yes both in 5 and 12 base stat differences are so minor they make no difference whatsoever but yet there are people who only make there job choices based on stat differences even though like i said they dont matter

I would make Galuf your white mage for personal reasons can't what cause its going to ruin the game for you. Also if you run into Omega Weapon in one of the dungeons later in the game you better run like hell. Its an opinional battle like Emerald or Ruby Weapon in FF7 but Omega Weapon will have no mercy on you. I think you got a stupid prize for defeating Omega if I remember(excalipoor maybe?)

the freelancer and mime classes both get all the stat boosts for every job you master so by end game they are the most powerful jobs to have.

so pick 2 characters and give them the physical jobs
and the other 2 characters give them the magical jobs

then at the end of the game you make the 2 physical characters into freelancers
and you turn the 2 magical characters into mimes.

also make sure both your magical characters master the red mage job because it has the most useful ability for mages

I would mostly agree with that. But I'd add have the physical characters also master Ninja and Ranger.

I felt the same upon playing it for the first time a few years back. It has the disadvantage of being inbetween FFIV and FFVI which did a much better job with story, characters and the world itself.
But FFV's job system is easily worth a full playthrough.
I put it aside for a while, after a few months started a new playthrough and was hooked from start to finish.
