modern games and everything to do with them, from the introduction of online and literally anything online related (like dlc) to the need for "gritty realism" in games? I only like everything 3, vice city and especially san andreas stood for, and despise everything, everything gta 4 stood for. No joke, there's not a single thing I like in 4 better than even 3, when both depict a liberty city.

Is 5 a return to form or more of the same as 4?

Well if you don't like modern games you won't like V, a modern game. I'd say it's a marked improvement on IV in many areas, but I'm still not a big fan of the driving.

I, too, prefer the arcadey style of the III era games.

I dislike most modern games too and I loved GTAV, it really is as good as people say imo. Its also not gritty or realistic, the plot and setting are VERY meta

What kinda weapons does it have, does it have heat seeking rocket launchers like in san andreas for police helicopters, can you drive a tank around the city, is there 9999+ ammunition for weapons or arbitrarily limited ammo like in 4, are there planes to fly around and jump from and parachuting onto a building etc?

I pretty much share your opinion of the franchise TC, and 5 was a welcome return to form. I lost interest in keeping the main quest going once that jock-itch FBI guy started being a driving force and never finished the game, but I quite enjoyed what I played up to that point.

Incidentally, did you ever play Saints Row 2?

V was my least liked game in the series. The soundtrack was by far the weakest, the reliance on getting money from the stock market was crap (I didn't know about the trick with the assassination missions and couldn't be bothered to go through the whole game again) and using three different characters was innovative but I couldn't connect with any of them. Also the online was complete crap in the beginning when you would get banned to troll lobbies for doing what the game was all about in single player.

I'm probably the only guy who loves 4 even if it's bare bones compared to the rest. It's comparable to 3 I think in that the new game on the new system will be more basic. I won't say that's an excuse for everything else though.

I loved the grittier and more realistic atmosphere and the characters, but they just dropped the ball as far as content. I love 4, but a lot of people's criticisms are valid. I also like how it's more about being a criminal working for various gangs instead of being more of a secret agent working for the government in 5..

What's up with the 3 protagonist thing, does it affect gameplay at all like one can jump higher/run faster than another or something? Or no effect on actually exploring the city and messing around/driving fast cars and doing crazy stunts at top speed and quick exiting the vehicle at the last minute just before it explodes?

Is there like a hub I go to so I can change characters or are they like rpg party members all in the menu?

Police chases in 4 are actually fun because they can go on endlessly since the AI is so bad.

In V, it's no fun allowed. They're all tryhards who cut you off or follow you to the top of any building. Which wouldn't be so bad if your health didn't literally disappear after two shots.

4 didn't also have infinite helicopters that spawn the minute one is shot down.

To start their stats are different. One is a better shooter, one is a better driver, etc, but the stats can be increased and once you max them all out they're all the same. The only difference is they all have a special ability unique to them. One can slow down time on foot, one can slow down time while driving, and one becomes nearly invincible and powerful for a short time.

You change characters by holding down on the D-Pad and selecting the character you want to switch to.

It's like San Andreas but with more modern game mechanics(obviously). Such as the weapon wheel from RDR.

It does carry over a few things from IV but does it much better. Driving was made easier. You also won't have to worry as much about hanging out with family or friends.

The usual complaints people have are
-Boring story/characters
-Very easy to die. Seriously, a few bullets can take you down.
-Soundtrack (very subjective).

One thing I liked about RDR is that it had potions/health restoring items that you could carry around and use any time in a pinch. Definitely convenient.
