yo no lie i would love if guns were illegal. i'd feel a lot safer if the government actually rounded up ppl's guns

Those who would trade their freedom for security, deserve neither.

i dont feel like im trading security and i dont agree with that maxim

You live in one of the most dangerous cities in America. According to the FBI, your city ranks number 1 in violent crime. Can you not at least admit that your perspective might be a little different if you lived in different circumstances?

no, because i just moved here and where i previously lived had almost no crime at all and i never heard any gunshots

moving here reaffirmed my believes. it didnt create them

Where I live, we keep the doors unlocked. We also have guns. People are rarely shot. Usually someone is only shot because of a drug problem. Our country has continuously refused to do anything meaningful about that. They cant fix the drug problem. The same people who seem to think we dont have a drug problem are usually the ones convinced we have a gun problem. I dont feel this is a coincidence.

When was the last time there was significant crime and gun violence involving booze?
The answer, of course, is when it was illegal.

Um now? Drunk driving and domestic violence rank pretty high on the list. Also this: https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/m/pubmed/26811427/ . Sit down

Yes, assholes gonna asshole, but property crime and shootings over whisky has been nigh-nonexistant since the 30s.

That's the tradeoff. Legalize drugs, and domestic abuse and moving violations will probably increase a bit, while home invasions and random homicides will significantly decrease.

My wife had 17 surgeries and nearly died due to a drunk semi driver. She required many experimental surgeries in order to fix her leg. Some of the irradiated bone used in her surgery is thought to have led to her development of medullary thyroid cancer which she has now had 3 times. She will never find a pair of shoes that fit properly and will always wonder in the back of her mind when the cancer might return. She is scared now every time she drives past a large semi truck. We do not support a ban of semi trucks or alcohol. Thats because we are reasonable people who recognize that some people are jerks and that no law will fix that.
