Why two camps? I say they go hand in hand. No pun intended.

Congress should make it mandatory that all people kill themselves-BUT NOT WITH GUNS-and that would fix everything, but the 'publucans are to stupid to agree to sensible gun control.

Agreed.

The best solution is clearly ban guns AND lock up mentally ill people.

It isn't both because people kill without guns, guns don't kill without people.

Whats the common denominator?

America is the only first world country with this level of mass shootings. They don't happen in nearly as great of a number anywhere else. Even other countries with as many guns as us. So it is a gun and a people problem.

Can you give me a link to a situation where guns killed without a person using it?

If it's true that guns don't kill people and people do kill people, i don't see the problem.
It's not banning guns, it's banning people from having them.

The guns are still allowed in the country. Maybe they go where nature intended them and roam free in the grasslands.

because identifying something as a 'gun problem' has the potential to impact the people opposed to such identification in some real, tangible way

and they've got theirs; you've got your dead kids, that sounds like a 'you' problem

America especially the right have this ego problem. We have to be the best, no country can do something better then us. We also can't be followers, so even if other countries do something better then America we have to ignore it, demonize it or lie about it. Our solutions have to be better.

Thing is you can love this your country and recognize it's flaws. You can want to improve things and make your country better. Ignoring it's problems isn't love and it isn't helpful. If other countries are doing something that works accept it and try to see if that method can work for your country. If it can't find something that can.

Ignoring mass shootings and refusing to talk about them after they happen does not work. It's what republicans and democrats have done for decades now. Try something different.

guns have always been here. we've always had our mass and school shootings, but theyve been exceptionally rarer compared to now. statistically overall gun deaths have been declining (a large chunk of that was cleaning up NYC) since the 90's and yet mass and school shootings have gone up. the guns are largely the same as are the methods of getting them.

this trend is showing that people are changing. and you can give a whole host of reasons why that might be. internet, news, video games, over abundance of prescription drugs, lack of proper parenting, lack of social care, the violent political divide. its producing numb kids that are becoming desensitized to too much and raised on a system where they have everything at their finger tips and people who are becoming increasingly irrational to the political climate. Make no mistake guns are a part of it, but theyre just the crust on a rotten pie.

getting rid of guns or severely limiting them isnt going to fix the problem and can potentially open a whole new world of issues once you go down that road. .

Why have such big camps? Lots of energy wasted on this subject that's better spent elsewhere
