Stan often acts as the moral mouthpiece and Kyle is the backup. Then there's the whole "Stan face palms frequently because he wants to do the right thing but he has a moron for a father". Kyle doesn't have that depth with familial obligations in recent seasons besides watching out for ike.

Short version? Stan is Chaotic Good and Kyle is Lawful Neutral.

Longer version: Stan always does what he thinks is right and will openly defy any and all authority figures, including God himself, to do what he thinks is right. Kyle cares less about doing the right thing than about doing what he feels is best for society. Kyle doesn't care if it hurts some people, including himself, if the group as a whole will be better for it. Kyle is also far more likely to go along with someone stronger (personality wise, not physically) if someone else has ideas.

For the record, Kenny is Chaotic Neutral ( he gives zero fucks and just does whatever he feels like doing all the time) and Cartman is Chaotic Evil ( he wants shit his way and literally will lie, cheat, steal, or kill to get his way. He's a true sociopath).

Garrison depends on the season, but overall he's mostly Chaotic Neutral too. Does whatever he wants and fuck the consequences.

The most interesting one to me is Wendy, who oscillates between Lawful Good and Chaotic Good almost constantly. Like, most of the time she's all about following the rules and helping people, but every once in awhile she says fuck it and does what she thinks is right no matter what. The episodes where she beats Cartman senseless and where she becomes transgender to fuck up Cartman getting his own bathroom are two of my favorites in the series
