Nah, they took everything serious.

Korg never joked on Asgard's destruction. He was being serious. It's a joke to US because of what happened while he was speaking. Most of the jokes are these way.

The criticism is that he's joking on the destruction of an entire race/world. But he's not. It just happens to be a joke to us. There's a huge difference in characterization.

Yeah guys, alien god people should be laughing on their way to Earth after their homeworld is obliterated and several of their loved ones have been murdered. They're not human.

Theyre not laughing on their way to Earth. Theyre just traveling space after Asgard falls.

Yet characters are still tossing out jokes at that point. The mood shouldn't have been so lighthearted after what had just happened. But since they're not human its totally appropriate.

I had a few issues with it

- they hype up the Valkyrie chick the whole movie for her to do nothing except help Thor escape (which anybody could have done) and shoot at the big wolf with a machine gun (also which anybody could have done)

- They hype up Hela the whole movie and are like "wow how are we gonna beat her?" and then Thor gets control over his lighting powers only for him to use it once on her and he's like "welp I tried once and it didn't work, let's not use those again for the remainder of the movie."

I hated this.

Every other character in the movie got humiliated, Thor got emasculated every single scene.

But that Valkyrie chick abuses Thor repeatedly, insults him, pretty much attempts to kill him and is a complete bitch.

And then she just "changes her mind" and everyone's cool with it and there is neither any moment of comedy nor any moment of action where she did a damn thing.

No Pathos or comedy.

It was screaming for an Austin Powers/Mini-Me esq scene where she's changed sides but Thor doesn't believe her and just beats the crap out of her. Then like Banner comes in and goes "Good news! She's going to help us get off this planet and then we'll ....er..." and Thor is like "OH......."

But it never happened.

She's probably the worst character in the entire film. You could write her out of the entire movie and lose nothing. All you'd need to do is make it so Loki forced Thor's capture (to stop the mob from killing Thor) and boom. The movie is identical.
