That's not true. Women are more likely to attempt to commit suicide, but men are statistically more likely to succeed. This largely boils down to the methods that are statistically preferred. A girl will down a bottle of pills, a man will more likely shoot himself.

WHY do men resort to guns? I was just thinking about this too. People like to throw out that its mentally disturbed people, but women can be mentally disturbed too. People throw out that its guns, but women have guns too. But why is it men that are doing these things, when there are MANY women with guns, including mentally disturbed women. What is it about our culture that leads men down those pathways (and not women, in the same way). That's something we can/should deal with. Unless the argument is that it's just males' nature to be violent?

The community and country were shocked to see this teenage girl with long wavy hair and large glasses as the source of such evil. Compounding their revulsion was her lack of repentance. It was a lot of fun seeing children shot, she told law enforcement, admitting how she liked to watch them squirm around after.

I would think that loss of status and/or inability to achieve status are two pretty common motivating factors for severe depression/suicide, as well as for actions taken to regain some semblance of control over one's life or to "get back at the world." And I can believe that men are more likely to have that issue to an extreme degree more often than women.

Men are also more likely to hang themselves than women. The only real reason I've heard for why men us the methods they do compared to women is that women don't want to leave an ugly corpse.

While I don't want to discount testosterone as a factor completely, I'm hesitant to say that it plays a significant contribution. Aggression is often an immediate reaction as opposed to a planned action. Testosterone-fueled aggression implies a strong emotional reaction to some situation. Mass shootings, on the other hand, seem more like conscious efforts to enforce their will on their surroundings. Again, testosterone may play a role in that as well, but I don't think that role is as large as one might initially expect.
