Canadians and Americans are basically the same thing. Their cultures are practically identical, lifestyles, hobbies, etc. arebasically the same too, yet theres next to no gun violence.

The maple syrup content in everyons blood is so high that bullets are a lot less effective on Canadians.

Often the bullets just get stuck in the initial maple layer without actually punching into any major blood vessels.

It's Lord of the Rings logic.

Orcs = USA.
Elves = Canada.

Gun Culture is completely different.

The US owes (or at least the accepted belief is that it owes) it's existence and freedom to guns. So owning guns is literally part of the constitution.

As a result guns are idolized and worshipped. Have been for centuries. Families have them, some people's earliest memories are shooting with their parents.

This means there is an enormous amount of guns in circulation and a hundred million people who love them.

Meanwhile at the same time there is a constant influx of guns coming in from Mexico. And a generally drug/crime filled class of gangs and undesirables with guns also.

As a result guns are absolutely everywhere. Attempts to limit them are not taken seriously and there is a mass hysteria of both Gun Fear and Gun Worship that makes people unreasonable.

AS a result gun violence is really high.

This is not part of the history or culture of Canada Or Switzerland. And there is no Mexican boarder flooding guns in either.

Yeah. Any serious gun control package needs to take drastic measure to DESTROY the Mexican cartels.

Yeah. Any serious gun control package needs to take drastic measure to DESTROY the Mexican cartels.

Don't even have to destroy them.

Legalizing or decriminalizing drugs would cripple the profits for Mexican Cartels in America within under a year.

And as a result gun violence would drop dramatically.

No. How would their drug trade die if it were legal?

No. How would their drug trade die if it were legal?

Because people wouldn't buy illegal dirty dangerous drugs from gang members and backalleys if drugs were being sold by clean taxed means?

Look no further than California and Weed. It's currerently super-expensive and awkward to buy legally yet it's crippled illegal weed sales.

Colorado Illegal weed sales went from 100% (obviously) to 27% in under a year.

Imagine the Cartels made 27% of what they made now? They'd have to look for ventures elsewhere

And those numbers are going to get lower as Weed gets cheaper and more popular legally.

Now imagine if all drugs were legal. They would be even cheaper.

There would be no money in running them illegally, especially with the risk involved.

The reason why Cartels make so much money is that there is literally billions of dollars to be made in drug running. You can take out an entire drug running network and would be replaced within a week

Now imagine instead there wasn't billions to make but a few hundred million (if that) and you were competing against legal sellers?

You'd turn illegal drug smuggling into illegal coca-Cola Smuggling. There'd be no money in it and no reason to kill people over it.
