Michael B Jordan was also a great villain imo.

Would rec, one of the better MCU movies so far.

Where would you rank it among the others?

Hard to say. After almost every movie I wanna say its the best so far.

Id rank it definitely top 6ish. I really like Killmonger as a villain so its one of the better movies based off of that alone. Is it the best Marvel movie? Idk yet. Will need some time and a rewatch. But it was definitely worth the hype.

It was fun precisely because it got away from the usual crap of Tony and his butt buddies.

Though overall it was a filler film and didn't matter in the grand scheme of things.

That's disappointing. I was hoping the last infinity gem would show up at least.

I mean it opened Wakanda to the world at the end. Thats pretty big tbh.

Also not every movie has to push the overarching story further. Ant-Man didnt. Captain Marvel likely wont. Id also argue Thor 3 didnt outside of the end credits and meeting Dr Strange.

They dont need to make everything about Thanos. It helped flesh out the Black Panther character and show (arguably) one of the most important countries in the world and their culture.

What about the Cosmic Cube? Thor and Loki, being in space, which sets them up to meet The Guardians of the Galaxy? Thor taking over for Odin, so now Thor is responsible for protecting the nine realms?

Ffff. Forgot that was in Thor 3. Need to rewatch that.

Also thats why I said the end scene connected the movies. Also I guess I see your point about the nine realms, but Im not so sure that the other realms outside of Earth will really matter that much. Unless the Guardians are technically in another realm or something.

I guess Ill concede that more of Thor 3 connects with the others than I remembered, but Id still argue that not every movie needs to be completely and boldly connected as things like Capt 3 or Thor 2 or whatever movie you wanna list. It had some subtle connections and focused more on shit we didnt know.

I pretty much agree with you. Black Panther does not need to connect to the overall arc to still be a good movie. It can stand on its own. Im hoping to see it soon, then I can participate in more discussions. There has got to be at least a few nods to the upcoming Infinity War.

I liked Doctor Strange largely because it was its own self-contained movie that didn't require you to remember who did what in a movie from 5 years ago tbqh

Well you should like Black Panther in that respect. Pretty much tells you everything/anything youd need to know.

I will say I kind of wish it had more IW ties but I thoroughly enjoyed the movie. Music was good, villain was good, story was pretty good, and Im still hype for IW.

Black Panther was its own movie and that was great. We didn't have Captain America showing up to say "How's Bucky?" and then get in a fight with Killmonger. It was a more serious MCU film and tbh, it barely felt like a marvel film and that's the best part. It didn't have their cheesy formula that they've been running with since Iron Man 2 where half the movie is them quipping or causing mindless destruction.
