It was less of a run of the mill Marvel movie than I expected. Also had a surprisingly high kill count for a MCU film

Was it overhyped?

Yes. Out of just the recent CBM movies, I'd rank Deadpool, Logan and Thor 3 well above it. It was still a lot of fun, I'm just not sure where I'd rank it in the Marvel verse.

It was however a nice change of pace from the typical Marvel flick. A lot more serious and very minimal on comedy/quips.

No. It was a great film and the African culture was a high point. It kept the mindless destruction to a minimum

It wasnt a joke fest like Thor 3 but it had its fair share. His sister I feel was just a character made for comedy.

Yes actually. The tone and feel of the movie felt closest to Winter Soldier.

It's not IMO. TBH, I think I enjoyed Ant Man and Dr Strange more so than Black Panther. It was definitely better than Civil War but Black Panther himself was more of a bad ass in Civil War than his own movie.

Bucky waking up, Tchallas sister preparing to brief him

Not particularly, nothing really sets anything up. Spoilers if you don't care.

Mid-credit scene - Wakanda at the UN making an announcement that they were going to start sharing information, technology, etc with the rest of the world

Post-credit scene - Winter Soldier in a Wakandan village talking to BP's sister and a kid calls him "White Wolf".

I wondered how the isolated feel of the movie was gonna play out, especially since the shared world thing is so big in MCU films now. Worked perfectly fine. Liked seeing Martin Freeman's character get a bigger role than he usually gets.

Well, Bucky wanted to be put under until they found a way to cure his brainwashing, not anytime sooner. Since he's waking up, they found a way.

I also think there was a hidden subplot. Michael B Jordans character grew up in the hood, so he was African-American and he was struggling to be accepted by real Africans, he was called an outsider to the very end. Think that will go under a lot of peoples radars though
