Shadow told me I don't talk about the things I like, so I guess I could tell you about the thing I am working on.

I'm working on a young adult fantasy novel. It's about forest beings who began to sprout out of the Earth many years in the future, after humans have all left, and the societies those beings form. It's actually technically a cycle of three short stories (it might end up being four). I'm about 60% done with the first version of it, and a lot of that is pretty refined already since I kinda was pretty laborious about making the first third or so as good as possible, but after that I kinda started spitballing it so that I can rewrite and refine it after. But I'm pretty proud of what I've got so far and people I've showed it to have liked it too, so I just might have something worthwhile here. But who knows.

So that's been my free time for the last few months pretty much. I dunno. AMA? Laugh me outta town?

That sounds interesting.
What kind of creatures are you writing about?

Been a murder, over in Riften. Some old lady who runs an orphanage. Those poor children must be heartbroken.

Why did the humans leave? And where did the forest beings come from? Do they know about humans? How is their society similar to/different from human society?

I don't go too far into the humans tbh, that's just a framing for why Earth doesn't have them anymore, but they left because they exhausted all of the earth's resources basically. The forest beings literally sprouted out of the ground, and when they did, well, forests followed. They do not know about humans, but I have an in-universe narrator who implies strongly to know that they were there. It is very very far into the future, well after the humans left, there isn't really anything of human society left anymore.

Do these forest beings ever wonder about their origins, or what their purpose is? Can they procreate or do they just magically come to life spontaneously? Do they have any concept of religion or myths? Can they die? And how is their society similar to and different from human society?
