Why do they make them work so much?

Probably the high demand from patients and a low supply of doctors? If I had to guess.

A lot of sick people and only so many physicians to go around.

How is this a secret if there's an article about it?

The details behind the suicide is unknown

Do they suspect foul play?

Have you seen the amount of work physicians do? One of the most underappreciated jobs and they're actually pretty appreciated

Too many people in the world. If you're sick and 80+ years old, give them some drugs then send them to die at home.

My father shares this belief with me. No point clogging up beds while you're waiting to die.

Nice guy? I don't give a s***. Good father? F*** you! Go home and play with your kids. If you want to work here, close!

I work for a long term care pharmacy that dispenses 4500+ scripts a day to nursing facilities. We are the number one distributor of narcotics in my state alone.

If you are in a malignant program you will never be appreciated.

I have witnessed this firsthand.

Never do gen surg in Memphis, thats hands down the most malignant program I can think of. Ive heard things man. Interns are regularly referred to as bitch boy and youre forced to carry a vascular kit on you at all times apparently.

Honestly if you want to do medicine successfully, you have to have an internal motor that you know how to refuel and maintain. You have to learn yourself and figure out how you can be most efficient and keep going without running out of fuel and burning out. I also think that once you reach a certain level of competency and confidence, everything becomes less stressful in general.

Hospital management reduces expenses by carefully finding the balance between paying for more physicians vs. the medical malpractice suits that result from mistakes caused by working a tight staff. So the hospital is always running a minimum of staff all being worked to their human limits.

That's what happens when capitalism is involved with health care.
