ahh, platinumed both VLR and ZTD. feels good.

anyways, the game wasn't as bad as I expected. the major twist is... kinda unbelievable to be fair, but I sorta liked it. What I didn't like is everything surrounding it. Essentially everything that has ever happened, happened because he wanted to be born at some point. Sigma and Diana being Phi's parents was also super weird. I can accept these things but I can't work them out in my brain. And knowing VLR took place after all of this mess is weird too, but I did like the timeline where Diana relays that phone call saying 6 billion were dead.

The animations were probably the worst part of the game to me. Idk if its the budget for the game but jesus they were bad.
The puzzles were pretty easy, but I kinda liked it that way, as VLR stumped me way too god damn much.

Team Q was unlikable all of the way through the game and never ever had a redeeming moment. At least Dio was sort of alright for some points in VLR. I got used to Junpei's character and started to accept the change after he spoke about his time in the secret service or whatever. Carlos ended up being the sleeper hit for me, I ended up really enjoying his character.

Uhh what else. The fragmented way of telling the story really grew on me and I started to really like it once everything molded together. However at one point, when Sean, Mira and Eric were in a standoff, and you had to choose one to shoot, I chose Delta as a joke and it pretty much ruined the surprise for me. Oh well though. Oh, and aliens ???? Hello??? you can't bring them up and then just not expand on that.

It was a solid game, but not a masterpiece like VLR or a top tier game like 999.
VLR > 999 >> ZTD. I'd still recommend it.

Ahh... how did you end up typing Delta as a joke lol? >__> You had to have known of his existence in some way.

I unironically really liked Team Q. They were a bit underdeveloped, but I felt like the other teams were collectively too seasoned. They weren't really surprised or confused and kind of immediately jumped into action, whereas Team Q had the whole "What's going on here?!" thing that I like in the series. Also Mira was great.

Overall, the game was...good, but the problems can all be summed up by understanding the budget and schedule that they were on. I wish it had been better, but I'm glad that the game exists at least.

he really was. I didn't like him, much like all of Team Q at first, but he grew on me a ton. Great backstory and he totally was just trying to save everyone. I felt so bad when Akane essentially told him that he cost the lives of millions in that timeline. Poor dude had no fucking idea, just fulfilling a promise.

Esepcially when the real Q was like, "she added chaos and deserved to die anyways". Like wtf. Even Alice's role of literally just being able to do quick maffs in VLR was more important.

Okay, I didn't do it as a joke, that's bad wording. I knew of the twins being Delta and Phi. And I figured that Delta was Zero. But I didn't think it was a man in the wheelchair, but rather someone seeing from Q's helmet. So when I tried to type in Q in the decision game, as if to choose to shoot myself, rather than Eric or Mira, and it told me that I needed to know Q's full name, I assumed it meant the robot kid, who's full name was Delta (if he was in control of the helmet). So when he turned to the camera and shot him, and Delta said some latin as he died, I didn't exactly understand that he was some guy in a wheelchair, but I knew he had to be there some how. I was thinking, how the fuck is some guy in the same room with them, and no one thinks to say anything? Even Mira was like, "You chose to shoot him?" After I heard that, I thought maybe the camera, or who I was playing as, was understood to just be some bystander walking around. I really had no idea what I thought. But the idea was planted in me that there was someone else there with them.

I like it more than I should. Contrary to your opinion, though, I actually liked Eric a lot.

I understand Eric's actions... but that didn't make me hate him less as a character. Mira was an interesting part of the cast but just felt pointless. I felt like they were both cheaply written characters that, understandably, were shallow because of the budget.

I'm happy it existed too though. Now I need to find some other crazy mind blowing VN to play. I've heard Ever17 is good.

I really liked the game even though it was widely hated.

I think 999 is my favorite of the trilogy though.

Also is it just me or do a lot of Visual Novels have better story than actual novels, movies, and tv shows shown here in America?

maybe it's because it's catered to a very niche demographic, but still

Ever17 is a wild ride. Pretty good read.

I'd also recommend Umineko, Umineko is all kinds of mind blowing. Long as hell though.

Played the Danganronpa series yet? I recently beat all of those and loved them. There's also Ace Attorney, but both of those are pretty mainstream by VN standards, so it wouldn't shock me if you've played both series already.

Yup! Played all of Danganronpa before I even started 999. Ace Attorney, I've been playing since the second game came to the west, I remember buying it on launch day.

I have Umineko Question Arcs on steam, bought it during the last sale. Just wary about starting it since its so long.

Is Ever17 standalone or is there something I should play before it?

Excellent. It's long as hell, but it's so worth reading.

Ever17 is standalone, there is a series of games it's a part of, but they're all standalone. So you don't need to worry about them, they aren't as good.

I'm glad everybody likes Carlos. Aside from the entirety of Sigma's team, he was by far the best thing about a team that was initially disappointing due to Junpei's too stark of a change and Akane not meeting up to the major mystique the series kept building about her. She just ended up being a... very normal girl with fringe knowledge. Whoever was in charge of writing Carlos' team fell short in delivering Akane as well as he should've, and Carlos saved that team from being worse.

For me though, nothing beats the twins story. Sigma and Diana's relation was surprising and pretty sweet. It actually affects the way I view VLR, since... you know lol Sigma and Phi were father/daughter and their banters were very father/daughter-esque in a lot of ways, sans some sexual jokes but err... it's ok they didn't know. The similarity in their name could've been a big giveaway in hindsight but you never know with fantasy world naming sense
