Basically I was an outcast in school. Had normal friends but not too many, around 10 friends but then some people who were more socially fucked up came into the picture. They seemed alright back then. They were emo weeaboos but not too bad, I disliked anime but I liked games so had a little common ground.

However, now I am late 20s and its like that weeaboo group never outgrew that Emo phase. Their love of anime also went from watching some anime to now they cosplay all the fucking time, some even have waifus and then a few claim they are otherkin (animals trapped in human bodies) and all they do is cry and have mental breakdowns.

The few times a year I see them at least one has an emotional breakdown.
- one claims he is half dragon, has like 5 waifus who all fight over him and that the only reason he doesnt obliterate people is because his waifus hold him back
- one claims she is half fox and threatened to bite my nose off because I dont like anime. She also growls at people like a dog and wear shorts fake fangs all the time
- another one claims she has an ancient Japanese warrior inside her spirit and when she dies the spirit will be unleashed and destroy the Earth

I mean in that group I only met one normal guy who me and my other friend hang out with all the time because he is sane and we all make fun of them.

Basically I am almost 30 now. I aint putting up with this circus shit, anymore. It was amusing for a while to laugh at the freak show behind the scenes but seriously, these people are just emotionally fucked up.

Oh and one time I went to the 21st of one of their friends I barely knew....they cosplayed and went to the playground nearby the house and were running around because it was windy and they liked the capes in the wind as well as recreating their favorite scenes from anime battles...

Though I'd heard about people that were deeply into anime culture, I suppose this is the closest I've come to actually interacting with any. Do those three you described repeat these beliefs over and over? Or is it where they told you once when they first met you? Do they go to school/college or work where they interact with others in a more "normal" fashion?

edit: one of them ended up doing n00d cosplays of something (she claimed it was artistic or something) and she ended up turning into a blind political advocate for liberals (i only say this because I know she failed the ontario literacy test in grade 10, misspelled many things on fb in her rants because she was so angry when she ranted, and if anyone refuted her arguments she would block them, and at one point she posted a satirical online news piece and thought it was real)

That's a bit sad to hear - I always wondered what most cosplayers were like, since I haven't met any in person.

I befriended two of them because at the time they werent as bad, they liked anime, the end. Then whenever they had parties etc these other weirdos they are friends with would be there and over the years the two I befriended just got worse and worse. Only met one guy who is normal through them who I still hang out with. His story is the same, they werent that bad originally then they just got worse over the years.

When people say why have I stayed around this long...well when you only see them maybe 3-4 times a year you forget how bad it is then you see them again and it hits.

If you only hang out a few times, it won't be the end of the world but perhaps cut ties if the Looney Toons are a bit too frustrating.

If you don't enjoy your time around them I would say to lose contact. You're getting towards the age where you should realize how to value your time.
