Never got it until the Switch release and I'm loving it. I loved Revelations 1 because of how close it felt to RE4, and Rev2 honestly just feels like RE4 in Russia.

I thought the internet fucking obsessed over RE4. Why's this game get such a lukewarm reaction everytime I see it mentioned somewhere? Is it the co-op system?

Idk I've heard it panned in a few podcasts lately, one citing it as an example of RE losing its way, another saying it was one of the weaker entries in the series... I checked its metascores and they were all pretty average. I was really surprised.

Like I said though, to me it feels and plays exactly like RE4 did, so I'm eating this shit up. Hell, I hate kids and I still even like Nataliya.

Wow yeah I don't get that at all. It was a budget release that basically gives the experience of a full resident evil.

Raid mode is a lot of fun too. More games should copy that sorta stuff.

I didnt really care for the fast-past stuff and the horde aspect. I *hate* hordes in survival/horror games. They should have made it more wealth-based, like RE4.

- Forced co-op was really stale by that point.
- Levels were basically hallways
- Moira was really annoying as a character, Claire's character contradicted past entries
- True ending trigger is pretty easy to miss
- Doing levels twice

But it was kinda scary so that's nice, and the gameplay itself was okay

It's a mediocre and generic third-person shooter. Being Moira/Natalia isn't fun. Capcom replaced Claire's voice actress with someone who wouldn't use her real name or acting pseudonym.

Raid Mode is super fun though.

The little melee combat that's in there is exactly the same as RE4 though, just with dodges added in... What's wrong with it?

You absolutely don't have to do that. I didn't even realize you can hold down the melee button for charging attacks until the third chapter.

I think the core idea behind the two of them was to tell Resident Evil stories from alternating perspectives in the same storyline, since the first one you sent between Jill and Chris, and the second you switch between Claire and Barry.
That said, as a huge fan of RE4, the Revelations games feel exactly like it to me to the point that Rev1 is basically just RE4 on a ship and Rev2 is just RE4 in Russia.

except that it wasnt really co-op you couldnt play online with other people you controlled both characters by yourself and they played differently as well with claire and barry being the ones you use to fight the monsters and bosses, and moira and natalia being the ones you use to explore the areas and find stuff.

moira being annoying is subjective i for one liked her overall.
the biggest contradiction with claire was the natalia scene where moira calls her out for not being good with kids where as claire's key character trait is she is good with kids and protective of them.
but the line "guns are more reliable than any person" is actually something steve told her in code veronica so its clear the events of that game had more of an affect on her than we thought.

you dont really do many levels twice and you go down different paths when you do so that never bothered me. especially since i remember the game folkore which has you literally repeating levels once as ellen and then once as keats with the same bosses and everything.

i really liked the claire parts of revelations 2
i found the barry portion boring.
which wouldnt be too much of a problem had it been an even split between claire and barry throughout the whole game.

the first 3 chapters it was an even split with about an hour of claire and an hour of barry
but he final chapter its 10 minutes of claire and 2 hours of barry and that hurt the climax of the story

I loved it. Scariest Resident Evil game I've played aside of REmake (though I'm not that far into RE2), fantastic single-player and replayability. Found RAID mode to be inferior to Revelations 1, but it still has its own merits.

i really enjoyed it and it did get reviewed decently too. i also didnt think moira was anywhere near as bad as some made her out to be. she definitely got better as the game went on.

it was the best RE anything we got since 4 imo.

i actually wish ashley and leon had been more like moira and claire gameplay wise
being able to switch between them with ashley being useful and with you the whole game

Plus, her crowbar gets to be amazing against regular enemies by the third chapter and absolutely demolishes enemies when going for another round.

Fuck that guy for posting videos on YouTube of an amazing version of RE2 that he made and refuses to release.

While Im sure I enjoyed it, the game was rather forgettable. It also suffered from being released episodically.

the outfits in the franchise had always been somewhat realistic
then came jessica.

with her wetsuit designed to keep her from getting hypothermia but it happened to be missing an entire leg and one ass cheek
