If this is in the context of Western games better than JRPGs, those are Japanese-made. Souls aren't JRPGs. Being a Japanese-made RPG doesn't make a game a JRPG for the same reason Portal isn't a first-person shooter. --- I am snazzier, hot, hot rant. Warily slight as. Croak rush, OK? I don't know how you could try to make this point when Japanese game characters literally copy and paste the same face for every male or female and just add different hair. That's exactly my point. East and West are both pretty creatively bankrupt. fucking woosh ... Copied to Clipboard!

It's not so much that they're creatively bankrupt, more that what's popular is just seldom creative, and even when something creative becomes popular, that's pretty much going to ensure people come a-knocking trying to emulate it later.
But every so often something that seems like it has no right in this world to be a success, is a success, and it's a neat surprise. Like Demon's Souls. Demon's Souls is pretty special, since it's a game that takes huge risks and on top of that is fairly unforgiving and uncompromising, while also having no name-recognition or advertising. Somehow, it was a success. This Japanese-made game with western gameplay style sensibilities. And from it sparked a wave of influence that is still having impacts to this day. --- I am snazzier, hot, hot rant. Warily slight as. Croak rush, OK? Weirder, almighty make out. ::) ... I can't imagine arguing Japanese games outside of Nintendo aren't any different than Western "RPG". They just cater to their preferred demographic. Since some people seems to lack some information that they should know...
It is no joke, the nukes caused some heavy cultural changes in Japan that are still being echoed today. The Emperor had to give up his God status and the Government had to never use religion as a political tool, the Emperor only got a symbolic status like the UK royalties and the people got democracy, the male dominance in the family disappeared, they got free economy, etc. The nukes got a huge influence in the manga and anime industry, just look at the work of Osamu Tezuka and his successor, Hayao Miyazaki, which in turn inspired videogame developers, like Hideo Kojima. The answer is simple, it is the cultural difference that was born because of the nukes. Japan was like a different country before the nukes. --- GameFAQs isn't going to be merged in with GameSpot or any other site. We're not going to strip out the soul of the site. -CJayC ...
