Board 8 > Anyone watch Marvel's Runaways?

Never read the comics (aside from research on Karolina Dean back when I did the LGBT character ranking)

4 episodes in, thoughts so far:

-I like the mystery, but I really wish the pace was just a bit faster. Feels like they're intentionally drawing things out more than need be
-Molly is one of the most frustratingly stupid characters I've ever seen. I get that she's the youngest but she's not like noticeably younger than the rest (I mean, they all go to the same school) so her being just so dumb is hard to just forgive
-Niko's mom doesn't even pretend to not be evil wtf
-Visual effects so far aren't incredible, but they're definitely cool, hoping to see more supernatural/sci-fi stuff
-oh shit just started ep. 5 and Dr. Doom is there
-As much as I like the mystery shows where nobody tells anybody anything for dumb reasons are so goddamn frustrating. Guess that kind of goes into the pacing thing

Overall really liking it so far (good characters, cool mystery) but it does have some issues. Not near as good as Legion, but considerably better than Gifted.

I really don't get what the point of the robes is. It's not like they hide their identities. Are they just trying to make the whole situation creepier?

Molly is so much wildly worse than in the comics.

In the comics she destroys the Punisher because he's mean. And Wolverine. It's excellent. She's too old in the show.

It's a fine show. It's a bit generic and lacks some of the stylistic excellence of the comics.

I don't really understand what everyone's problem with Molly was, as I only found her annoying one time (that I can't even remember what it was about). She probably should've been made a bit younger though, just to differentiate her from the others.

I think the show's biggest problem is definitely its pacing, but I think it has enough potential to really become great, which I hope it'll achieve. I also don't really like Chase or Alex. Karolina is adorable though.

Molly definitely should've been a younger actress, yeah. She seems to have the intelligence of a 10-year-old, but it's hard to buy because she clearly isn't. Doesn't help that she's the worst actor of the bunch by a pretty wide margin

I do think the show has potential. So far it seems like it's trying to find footing but I think it could be great if they really tried

The pacing is wierd because it's so different from the comics. The adults in the comics had no development, they were barely in it. The entire plot in regards to The moldy bed guy does not exist. 90% of the show is original content.

I enjoyed it, but Runaways is a case where a movie would have been better, they had to change almost everything to make it a show.

I've never read the comics, but I think the show benefits so much by how much development they gave the parents. I care about a lot of the parents more than some of the kids.

I do agree that they did a good job with it, it's just strange as a fan of the comics. This is more like a remake of Runaways than an adaptation. Certainly not nearly as good as the source material, but good at what it's setting out to do.

The pacing picks up in the last few episodes and sets up what could be a really great season 2. Personally, i loved it. Theres some issues of character motivation, the obvious pacing issues and some other stuff but overall i really enjoyed it.
