Every time you look at the news you see bullshit like "Millennials are doing this ;.;" "Millennials are killing that ;.;" "Millennials aren't wasting money on diamonds mined by slaves ;.;". Every single time it's said, it's always in a negative manner that attacks and insults a specific age group. If you replaced "Millennials" with "Jews" it would sound like a nazi rag.

I for one have started considering it to be a slur, since it is used overwhelmingly in a negative and insulting manner towards a group that have no control over their age.

I feel like it's become a word to use to describe people doing anything you don't like or care for. So much to the point where it's basically meaningless. You pour your milk in before your cereal? Oh what a millennial. Being a vegan is so millennial. Only a millennial would think boobs>ass

Let's play a game. Like I said in the OP; replace "millennial" with "jew" and see what the headlines turn into. I just picked some articles and got these gems.

"15 Times Jews Screwed Up In The Most Jewish Way "
"Can You Relate To Any Of These Jewish Stereotypes?"
"13 Easy Investing Apps and Websites for Jews"
"11 Reasons Talented Jews Get Fired"
"The 23 best cities to move to if you're a broke Jew"
"Jews set for 'inheritance boom' - but it still won't be enough" (LOL)
"Jews are the pickiest eaters, survey finds"

If a news site published any of those headlines, a sizable chunk of the population would be livid, and they would be called nazis. I'm going to call it the Sturmer Game; replace Millennial with Jew and see who thinks it came from a natsoc newspaper.

Semi related; when I googled "What paper was owned by nazis" the Daily Mail was the top result.

Restaurants always have to change and adapt for new costumers as tastes change as the older ones stop coming and so they can keep earning money. If a company fails to bring in new costumers it is the fualt of the company not a fualt of the potential costumers. You are blaming the wrong people.

i doubt it. ageism is different because it's something everyone will go through. we've all been young people and (God willing) we'll all be old people. it's the most inclusive bigotry!

That's hardly a justification to be discrimitive towards people in certain age but I guess it's all good since I like making fun of old and young people.

Eh, it's always been happening. Go back to the 90s and you'll see all the baby boomers and up complaining about how generation x-ers were a bunch of slackers with no ambition. And when the baby boomers were young their parents complained about them having no morals, being immature, etc. If you look at comedy from the 60s aimed at middle aged people and above, you'll see that one of the most popular go-to jokes was making fun of the Beatles. How their music is just noise, it's not real music, it's some fad that everyone will forget about in a few years.

Anyway it's always been a thing people do and the old people who make fun of them always look stupid later. That's why I usually refrain from making fun of younger people.

Even sillier is the people that complain about this are the same people making sure millennials don't get liveable wages and can't climb up the ladder of success.

And always will. Present "old folks" blaming society as it is now. This generation complaining the past generation fucked them over. Millenials become the "old folks" blaming present society on Gen Z. While Gen Z blames the "old folk" Millenials for their plight in life. It's the circle of life.

At this point, "millennial" is no different from words such as "fanboy" or "shill". Mainly used as a derogatory term by many people to discredit other people's views or opinions.

I don't even know what constitutes as a "millennial" anymore because I have heard every damn answer under the sun. Everything from "born in the mid 90s and afterwards" to "born in 1980 and afterwards". I seriously have no idea what a "millennial" is because I've seen a zillion different criteria.

The term millennial itself doesn't have any negative connotation. Every generation is accused of destroying the fabric of society, and the millennials will be accusing some future generation someday.

Calling BS. Millennials and Gen Z will both assign blame to boomers.
I don't think Boomers have that much time or will have that much population on the planet by the time Gen Z starts growing up and hits hardships and needs a scapegoat. Hell my folks are both in the their mid 60's and Gen Z is what, like my boys' ages; 11 and 14?

Pointing at crime statistics is a red herring for many arguments, much like it's being used as a red herring right now. It's used to sweep other shit under the rug and I don't know what fantasy land you're living in where causality works in the way you think it does.
