Technically pretty much any amount is safe. Oddly enough I was about to take two 10's for the first time because I can't sleep. Although I think if you take too much and for too long it can fuck up your body putting it off naturally on it's own properly. But that's something my family doctor told me when I was like 14 so who knows.

I took some all natural melatonin stuff before. I sat there for the longest time playing a game and was like "This stuff is garbage I'm not even tired"

Then I woke up 8 hours later like what the hell happened? I passed out and it was pretty much the deepest sleep I've had in awhile.

It takes about an hour to kick in, sometimes a little more, so don't take it expecting immediate results, but it is great to take if you know ahead of time you need to wake up early so you can take it an hour before you want to go to bed so you can get enough sleep.

While you basically cant OD on Melatonin, you also probably shouldn't be taking that much. It could throw off your body's natural sleep pattern, and taking that much, especially if you take melatonin frequently, makes it less effective over time. If you've been taking it a lot lately and are noticing it being less effective, you should probably not take it all for a week or two to let your body kinda reset, and it'll be more effective again.

You may want to talk to a doctor then about getting stronger sleep meds. Melatonin is a fantastic supplement, but that's just it: It's a supplement. It's not meant to completely take over your body's job of getting you to fall asleep. It's just there to kinda help you along a bit. It's great for mild insomnia, but if there's deeper issues it's only going to help so much.

Lol melatonin is a natural chemical your body produces, I have a sleep disorder and have probably taken 50+ in a night, they just make you wake up in the middle of the night so I prefer another medicine to help me sleep, not sure if I'm allowed to be specific but it's legal here so whatever..

I was told by a doctor to get some of this for sleep but never did. I don't have a schedule so it's easier for me to just sleep into the day when I have trouble

Gotcha. I assumed they had the standard one's since they said it took so long. I haven't really looked into the fast dissolving one's myself much.

Trazadone is what knocks you out but you need a doctor to give it to you. It can be dangerous, first time I took it I went to the bathroom and woke up on the ground outside my bedroom door, luckily didn't hit my head but it is something you take after you eat, go to the bathroom etc and are in bed for the night, takes a while as with all pills but once it kicks in you're done.

I've done around 30mg before.

Now I usually take Zzquil. Take it after dinner and then by the time I'm ready for bed I go out like a light.

Melatonin is one of those things that if you take too much, it can have the reverse effect and give you insomnia. I've always had trouble staying asleep and have tried everything OTC, and for a while melatonin worked until I built up a bit more of a tolerance, so I took a bit more. At one point I was taking 50mg and it just kept me up, I didn't feel tired at all. Going back to a smaller 5mg dose actually worked better at that point. Everyone reacts differently though, so test out what works for you and if you hit this point, step it back a bit.
